Why are there northeasterners, but no southwesterns and southeasterns? Here comes the answer!

Northeastern beauty

Most northeasterners who come to southern cities do not use the provincial capital or city as their territory, but say that they are northeasterners. When you say that you are from the northeast, your friends in the south will nod their heads and show that they understand. The reason why northeasterners say that they are from the northeast and agree that the three eastern provinces are a whole is mainly for the following reasons.

1. The living customs of the three northeastern provinces are similar

Before the Qing Dynasty, very few people lived in the northeast. In the early period of qing rule, the Manchu rulers maintained the "ancestral zhaozhi xingwang's place" and "longxing heavy land" by building wicker edges, and forbade the people of Guannei to reclaim land north of the wicker edge, and the implementation of this policy reached its peak during the Qianlong period, so that most of the northeast formed a no-man's land.

Under the influence of multiple internal and external factors, from the middle of the 19th century, a large number of inland immigrants secretly poured into the northeast to reclaim, and the Qing government then relaxed the ban during the Guangxu period, and the "invasion of the Kanto" followed the formation of a trend that lasted until the "918" incident in 1931.

The people who broke into the Guandong could mainly come from Shandong and Hebei provinces, and some came from Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan, Shanxi and other places. Everyone speaks the Northeast mandarin, and the living customs are very similar, and it is easy to form a sense of unity psychologically.

2. The three northeastern provinces are administered by a single government agency

After the Qing Dynasty settled the Central Plains, at the beginning only the "Ang bang Zhangjing" stationed in Shengjing was responsible for the defense of the entire northeast. From 1850 to 1910, the population of the northeast grew from 2.9 million to more than 21 million, with a net increase of more than 18 million in 60 years. Later, the Qing Dynasty divided the three eastern provinces into three, which were under the jurisdiction of General Shengjing, General Jilin and General Heilongjiang respectively, which constituted the pattern of the three northeastern provinces today.

In the last year of the Qing Dynasty, in 1907, under the impetus of Xu Shichang, the three eastern provinces set up provinces, abolished the system of dividing the flag people, and adopted a unified civil rule method. Each of the three provinces has an inspector, and Xu Shichang is the governor of the three provinces. During the puppet state of Manchukuo, the three eastern provinces were again administered by an administrator.

Because for a long time, the three eastern provinces were governed by an administrator, and the psychological convergence was very close.

3. The internal political districts in the northeast change frequently, and the current provincial pattern in the northeast is formed very late

In history, the northeast region is relatively independent politically and economically, and the internal administrative divisions are chaotic and changeable, which also makes the provincial identity of the northeast people inferior to that of the greater northeast region. For example, during the puppet Manchukuo period, some of the four northeastern provinces of Fengtian, Jilin, Heilongjiang and Rehe were reorganized into ten provinces, and Xing'an Province was later divided into four provinces of Xing'an East, West, South and North. Puppet Manchukuo formed a pattern of 2 special cities and 14 provinces. Because there are many provinces, everyone's identification with provinces is much worse than that of the Great Northeast.

For example, you are fifty-four years old this year, your hometown has lived in Mudanjiang since breaking into the Kanto Region, your great-grandfather should be a native of Jilin Province, your grandfather became a native of Binjiang Province/Mudanjiang Province, your father was born in Songjiang Province, and you yourself are from Heilongjiang Province. Therefore, you can only say: "I am from the northeast."

Compared with the northeast, the southwest, southeast and other places do not have such advantages. There is no such thing as southwestern people and southeastern people.

Let's start with the Southwest. After the middle of the Qing Dynasty, there were no drastic changes in the demographic structure of the southwest region, which contributed to the formation of a "subcultural zone" in the southwest region. On the other hand, the provincial-level administrative regions in the southwest region were stereotyped earlier. Sichuan has been a province occupying an independent geographical unit since the Yuan Dynasty, and the centripetal force and exclusivity of its basin core area have always been strong. Since the establishment of the province in the Yuan Dynasty, the border volume of Yunnan has also been relatively fixed; Guizhou is more special, the Ming Dynasty set up a province, and the Qing Dynasty Yongzheng has greatly adjusted the northern boundary, and since then the political district has been relatively stable. In this case, the residents have a strong sense of identification with the province, so there is no southwestern saying.

Sichuan beauty

The southeast is similar to the southwest. Historically, the han people going south were not the same, and different batches of Han people who went south constituted the ancestral source of different ethnic groups such as Wuyue, Hakka, Minnan, Guangfu, qionglei and so on; in addition, these different batches of ethnic groups that arrived on the southeast coast were geographically isolated by mountains and rivers on the southeast coast, and communication between each other was limited, thus maintaining the characteristics of the respective ethnic groups. Therefore, these people have formed their own cultures, and they do not have a strong sense of identity with the northeast region like the northeast. Therefore, there is no southeastern people.
