The Eighth Route Army swept back, and thousands of troops and horses were crowded in a small mountain nest, but there was no sound

In November 1941, after the enemy combined attack and pounced on the air, he turned to establish temporary positions in the Yimeng Mountain base area, and there were enemy mobile forces around each stronghold, and as soon as the Eighth Route Army was found, a combined attack was immediately carried out. At the same time, the enemy also carried out "clearance and suppression" of the base areas, and the Yimeng Mountains were divided into four "clearance and suppression" areas, east, west, south, and north; for each "clearance and suppression" area, local cadres, scattered personnel, and wounded of the Eighth Route Army were searched door to door, and Zhuangding was wantonly captured.

Considering that the troops remaining in the inner line of combat were too weak and that if they did not counterattack the enemy's "clearance and suppression" in time, the base areas would suffer even greater losses; Luo Ronghuan, having already made a safe breakthrough, categorically decided that the headquarters of the 115th Division and the Shandong Sub-Bureau would not move to the outer line for the time being and would instead advance to the central area of Yimeng Mountain, and decided to dispatch some forces to advance into the central area of Yimeng Mountain and coordinate with the internal troops, guerrillas, and militia to oppose the "cleansing and suppression."

In mid-November, the Japanese army concentrated more than 7,000 troops and launched a combined attack on the "Simon Mountain" area, one of the four major "qing suppression" areas. Luo Ronghuan judged that the enemy's main force was moving westward, and was determined to surprise the enemy, so he led his troops to the east to cross the Linmeng Highway and re-enter the central area.

On the evening of November 17, the organs and troops marched from west to east, and at this time they just happened to encounter the enemy's large contingent of men and horses from north to south, and also marched along the Linmeng Highway, and the troops and organs immediately retreated to the mountains and forests beside the road to hide, and the Eighth Route Army was well-trained, and although the brigade was crowded in a small mountain nest, it was silent and did not move at all. After the enemy passed, they quickly advanced from west to east, and it was already dawn at that time, but with the help of heaven, suddenly there was a heavy fog in the sky, and the troops and organs crossed the road like clouds driving fog.

After returning to the central area of Yimeng Mountain, Luo Ronghuan, on the one hand, ordered the organs and the first branch of the Kang Da University to form a working group to carry out guerrilla warfare against the "liquidation and suppression" in various places; on the other hand, he directly commanded the division's special service battalion and other units through the division headquarters to sweep the enemy who was "clearing and suppressing."

Although there are only three companies in the division's special service battalion, two of them are Companies of the Red Army, and one company is a unit formed in the early days of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. On the 19th, taking advantage of the fact that the Japanese puppet army in the enemy's central stronghold of Duozhuang participated in the "clearance and suppression" and had not yet returned, the special agent battalion "drilled when there was time, saw the seams and inserted needles", and quickly rushed to Duozhuang. That night, the Japanese puppet army returned to the stronghold, but did not realize that the Eighth Route Army was close at hand, let alone that the four companies of the battalion had braved the wind and snow and set up an ambush near Duozhuang.

At dawn, the Japanese troops in Duozhuang went out again, and when they entered the ambush circle, the four companies fired fiercely in the head, and the Japanese army was beaten up, leaving more than twenty corpses behind, and fled back to the stronghold in a panic. Although the scale of this ambush battle was not large, it caused a lot of shock to the Japanese army, and the other enemies who launched the "clearance and suppression" on the same day all retracted their respective strongholds.
