MHR Dawn DLC should not be hindered by Strange Hunt's 20th anniversary program

Monster Hunter will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2024, but Capcom shouldn't give up Monster Hunter Rise: Dawn too soon. The Monster Hunter series has grown in popularity over the past few years, and several of its recent games (such as Worlds and Rises) have also introduced more players to the series. Monster Hunter World sold millions of copies on PS4 and Xbox One, while Monster Hunter Rise on Switch further refined the series' new open-world elements.

The original Monster Hunter was released on the PlayStation 2 in 2004. In a recent interview with Famitsu, series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto said he had already started looking forward to celebrating Monster Hunter's 20th anniversary in 2024, and that developers should soon start preparing for "various things." But he also mentioned that Monster Hunter Rise: Dawn will be released first, as Capcom hopes to release the big DLC in a "stable state" this summer. This is a reasonable decision because it's easy for developers to turn their attention to the "next big thing" and lead to poor quality or perfunctory content of the "Dawn" DLC.

That said, Capcom is unlikely to release the Dawn DLC in an imperfect state. Even after adding the story ending and various colognes, some players still complained that Monster Hunter Rise has less gameplay than Monster Hunter World.

Meanwhile, Capcom is preparing to release a PC port of Monster Hunter Rises: Dawn on Jan. 12, but the Dawn DLC seems to be getting more attention, promising to expand the game content with features such as the "Master" difficulty, equivalent to the previous "G bit".
