Tesla's latest 2021 annual automobile production and delivery report shows that in the whole year of 2021, Tesla's global deliveries exceeded 930,000 vehicles, an increase of about 87.4% year-on-year, and more than 300,000 vehicles were delivered in the fourth quarter of 2021, setting another record delivery record.
Stock market, as of December 31, 2021, Tesla's stock price was $1056.78, with a total market capitalization of $1.06 trillion. For the full year of 2021, Tesla shares rose nearly 50%.
Tesla's delivery growth nearly doubled in 2021
At a time when the global automotive industry is experiencing the impact of "lack of core", Tesla strives to break through the supply dilemma by improving the vertical integration of the global supply chain and the technical reserves, including the ability of self-developed chips.
According to the data, in 2021, the total production of Tesla vehicles is 930422, and the total delivery volume is 936172 vehicles, which is nearly double the production and delivery of about 500,000 vehicles in 2020.
Among them, the total production of Model 3 and Model Y is 906032 units, and the total delivery volume is 911208 units. Total production of the Model S and Model X was 24,390 and 24,964 units.

In addition, Tesla's car data in the fourth quarter of 2021 is also very eye-catching: in the fourth quarter, Tesla produced more than 3,050 million vehicles and delivered more than 308,000 vehicles. Among them, deliveries increased by about 70% year-on-year, nearly 30% higher than the previous quarter, greatly exceeding institutional expectations. It was also the sixth consecutive quarter in which Tesla reported record deliveries.
Roland Berger partner Wu Zhao told the Shanghai Securities News reporter that although the global automotive industry in 2021 by the chip shortage continues to be affected, many new energy vehicle companies have achieved more than expected growth. Tesla's global sales performance not only benefits from the outbreak of demand in the Chinese market and the global supply of production capacity in the Shanghai factory, but also from the overall competitiveness of its model products and industrial chain. Whether it is Tesla's new sales in the global market, or the blossoming of new domestic forces and the transformation of traditional car companies, it means that the era of intelligent electric vehicles will accelerate.
The global market is in full bloom
Tesla CEO Musk tweeted: "Tesla's global team is doing well! ”
In 2021, Tesla can be described as a full bloom in the global market.
Among them, in the Chinese market, according to the data of the Association of Automobile Associations, Tesla has exceeded 50,000 monthly sales for 3 consecutive months. In November 2021, Tesla's wholesale sales reached 52,859 units. From January to November 2021, Tesla's total car sales in the Chinese market have reached 240,000.
It is reported that there are currently more than 500,000 Tesla owners in China, with a total driving mileage of 3,721.2 million kilometers, which is equivalent to 33 trips between The Earth and Mars.
European market, December 27, 2021, according to the November 2021 European electric vehicle sales data released by automotive data analyst JATO Dynamics, Tesla Model 3 became the most popular electric vehicle in Europe with 10,739 registered vehicles. The Tesla Model Y, which has just been on sale in Europe for three months, ranks fourth with 5347 units.
In the US market, the US pure electric vehicle sales data from Experian (Experian) shows that from January to October 2021, Tesla's sales in the US market reached 260932 vehicles, surpassing luxury brands such as Audi and Mercedes-Benz, with a market share of about 69%.
In the German market, in November 2021, Tesla sold 3825 Model 3s in Germany, surpassing all mid-size fuel and electric vehicle competitors such as Volkswagen and BMW, and accounting for 20% of the sales share of the German mid-size car market that month. Overall car sales in Germany fell 32 percent in November due to chip shortages, but Tesla bucked the trend by 234 percent.
Looking ahead to 2022, Musk has previously said tesla will be able to maintain an annual growth rate of more than 50 percent "for a considerable period of time." Deutsche Bank predicts Tesla will deliver nearly 1.5 million vehicles in 2022, although chip shortages remain a production risk. This means that Tesla's delivery data will increase by nearly 60% year-on-year this year.
The Shanghai Gigafactory produces more than the Fremont plant
From the production side, the production capacity of Shanghai Super Factory will be further improved in 2021. According to the data of the Association, as of November 2021, the delivery volume of Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory in 2021 has exceeded 400,000 units, reaching 413283 vehicles, an increase of 242% year-on-year.
In the third quarter of 2021, the quarterly output of model 3 and Model Y in Shanghai Gigafactory surpassed that of the Fremont plant in the United States for the first time, improving Tesla's global delivery speed.
It is reported that this is due to the high degree of intelligence and digitalization of the Shanghai Gigafactory, as well as the localization rate of up to 86% of the components.
According to the information of the environmental information disclosure platform of Shanghai enterprises and institutions, Tesla is preparing to expand production in the Shanghai Gigafactory.
According to the platform, Tesla publicized the "Production Line Optimization Project in the Second Phase of the Shanghai Gigafactory Project (Phase I)". The EIA report shows that there is no new production equipment for the project, and will rely on existing production equipment to increase production capacity by increasing working hours, increasing the number of employees, and increasing the frequency of material turnover. Tesla did not disclose the expansion of the gigafactory's capacity, but its staff will increase significantly. According to Tesla's plan, after the completion of the optimization and expansion of the production line at this stage, 4,000 new employees will be added to the production area, and the total number of employees in the Shanghai Gigafactory will reach 19,000.
At the same time, the Shanghai Gigafactory has also become Tesla's new export center. Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory not only meets the needs of the domestic market, but also undertakes the delivery task of Tesla in more than 10 countries and regions such as Europe and Asia, and has become a new business card for China's automobile exports.
