He joined our army at the age of twenty and successively served as an instructor and regimental commander in the army. A year later, Xu Hengzhi was unfortunately arrested for organizing a demonstration, and in prison he was tortured and did not disclose the slightest information about our party, and later organized an rescue and successfully released from prison. After his release from prison, Xu Hengzhi continued his revolutionary career in the countryside and actively mobilized the peasants to support our army.
In the course of propaganda, he established a deep friendship with the masses of the people, achieved remarkable results in his work, and was praised by the leaders at his higher levels.
