He was the youngest of the special meritorious men, holding his ground alone and killing 239 U.S. troops

During the period of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, many special meritorious heroes emerged in the volunteer army, such as Huang Jiguang, Qiu Shaoyun, Yang Gensi, Sun Zhanyuan, and so on.

The special meritorious man introduced today, named Gao Lianglun, was the youngest of all the special meritorious servicemen, and he was only 20 years old at that time.

He was the youngest of the special meritorious men, holding his ground alone and killing 239 U.S. troops

Born in 1932 in Guangyuan City, Sichuan Province, Gao Lianglun joined the Volunteer Army in 1951 and became a small soldier in the 93rd Regiment, 93rd Regiment, 31st Division, 20th Army.

In November 1952, Gao Lianglun participated in the Battle of Shangganling with his troops, and the company gave Gao Lianglun a difficult task: he led a soldier to hold a very critical small height.

After Receiving the task, Gao Lianglun rushed to the position with his comrades-in-arms and began to build fortifications. The enemy's attack soon began, hundreds of shells came to the position, the fire was very fierce, Gao Lianglun felt that it was pointless to hold on now, so he decided to withdraw 30 meters away from the position area and wait for the enemy to finish firing.

After half an hour, the enemy's artillery fire gradually stopped, at which time Gao Lianglun quickly led the soldiers to repair the fortifications. The enemy thought that our army personnel had already been blown up, so they attacked slowly, and when they were 30 meters away from the fortifications, Gao Lianglun shouted: "Fight! In an instant, the two men threw out seven or eight grenades in their hands, and the enemy was unable to prevent it, leaving 6 corpses and fleeing back.

Gao Lianglun did not dare to rest, and immediately reinforced the fortifications to meet the enemy's second attack. Sure enough, a platoon of the enemy organized an attack again, this time, Gao Lianglun let his comrades hold on to the front, and he himself swerved back behind the enemy and attacked the enemy, and as a result, the enemy was beaten back again.

In this way, in one afternoon, the enemy launched 7 attacks, but they did not capture the small heights held by Gao Lianglun and his two men.

It was about to get dark, and Gao Lianglun found that there was not much ammunition left, and at this time, the passage to the main position had been intercepted by the enemy, and the logistics could only rely on himself. At the critical moment, Gao Lianglun quickly made a decision, and he continued to pursue the enemy, pinning down the enemy's strength, and then the comrades were responsible for going out to collect ammunition.

In this way, Gao Lianglun took up his submachine gun, took out the only 4 grenades, and rushed to the enemy position, while his comrades took advantage of this gap to retrieve more than 100 grenades and more than a dozen grenade launchers.

At this time, Gao Lianglun and his comrades-in-arms had not rested all day and were already highly tired, but Gao Lianglun still encouraged his comrades-in-arms not to sleep, and the two dug a cat ear hole overnight to prevent enemy shelling.

The next morning, the enemy did launch another shelling, and this time, Gao Lianglun and his comrades hid in the fortifications, unharmed. When the enemy attacked again, Gao Lianglun and the two suddenly emerged from the fortifications and threw 11 grenades in a row, and the enemy was beaten down again. However, Gao Lianglun's comrades-in-arms were also sacrificed, and only Gao Lianglun was left in the position.

Seeing that the enemy could not attack for a long time, he adopted the tactic of siege and besieged Gao Lianglun here. Soon, there was no dry food and water on the position, Gao Lianglun had not eaten or drunk all day, and his body had reached its limit, but he still did not flinch and continued to resist tenaciously.

Gao Lianglun thought of a way, he took off his hat and stood on a stick, and the enemy thought it was our army's observation post, and they all stood up and shot at it. Where do they know that Gao Lianglun is a famous sharpshooter in our army, and as a result, when the enemy came out, Gao Lianglun killed one, and in a few days, Gao Lianglun alone actually killed 170 enemies, plus the results of the early stage and his comrades repelling the enemy's charge, adding up to a total of 239 people!

In this way, Gao Lianglun alone held his position and repelled 17 enemy attacks, holding out until the reinforcements came up, never taking a step back.

After the war, the headquarters of the Volunteer Army, in view of his heroic deeds, recorded his special merits and awarded him the honorary title of "Hero of the Second Class". According to records, Gao Lianglun was the youngest of all the volunteers' special meritorious service, only 20 years old.
