Zhu Wuping was born in 1898 to a peasant family in Suixi County, Anhui Province. Zhao Lianxuan was born in 1907 in Fengyang County, Anhui Province, to a working-class family. In June 1929, Zhu Wuping took over as the secretary of the Fengyang County Party Committee of the Communist Party of China and led the local workers in a series of strike struggles. During this period, he became acquainted with Zhao Lianxuan, who had just joined the party. Although Zhu Wuping was 9 years older than Zhao Lianxuan, they were also revolutionaries, and they could feel the same revolutionary belief in each other, and they formed a deep revolutionary friendship when fengyang was carrying out strike struggle.

At this time, Zhao Lianxuan still insisted on carrying out the party's underground work in Fengyang County. In April 1932, Zhao Lianxuan was appointed secretary of the Fengyang County CPC Committee, and took up the burden of revolution in the post where Zhu Wuping had fought. At this time, he may remember the time when he fought side by side with Zhu Wuping, but he could not have imagined that due to the betrayal of the traitors, they were already in prison when they met again.
