Of the 174 new locally confirmed cases in Xi'an, 104 are non-close contacts, and the risk of community transmission still exists

On January 1, the Shaanxi Provincial Health Commission reported that at 0-24:00 on December 31, 2021, 174 new locally confirmed cases were reported in Shaanxi Province (all in Xi'an City). Health Times combed the details of the cases and found that of the 174 new locally confirmed cases in Xi'an on December 31, 70 were close contacts of previously reported local confirmed cases, and the remaining 104 confirmed cases were detected positive in nucleic acid screening or after isolation due to confirmed cases in the living/working area, or after being isolated as key personnel.

Up to now, Xi'an has had 150 or more local confirmed cases for 7 consecutive days:

December 25, 155 cases;

150 cases on December 26;

175 cases on December 27;

151 cases on December 28;

155 cases on December 29;

161 cases on December 30;

December 31, 174 cases.

Since 9 December 2021, Shaanxi Province has reported a cumulative total of 1,475 locally confirmed cases (1,451 cases in Xi'an City, 12 cases in Xianyang City, 11 cases in Yan'an City, and 1 case in Weinan City).

"From the current situation, the number of positive nucleic acid screenings detected in recent days has remained high, and there is still a certain proportion of cases detected from the community, and the risk of community transmission still exists." Yang Lianchang, deputy director of the Shaanxi Provincial Health Commission, said at a press conference on the prevention and control of the new crown pneumonia epidemic on December 31, 2021 that the local epidemic situation in Xi'an is still in a critical stage of confrontation, and everyone must strengthen confidence, bite the bullet, take more resolute and decisive measures, control the spread of the epidemic as soon as possible, and must not have the slightest relaxation and paralysis.
