During the Liberation War, Fu Chuanzuo was transferred from the Jinsui Military Region to the Seventh Column and Seventh Brigade of the Northwest Field Army as a brigade commander, participating in the liberation of Linfen and Taiyuan.
In 1949, Fu Chuanzuo was transferred to the First Army of the First Field Army, serving as the commander of the Third Division and the commander of the First Division.
