I imagined my future, and I dreamed of my role, maybe as a writer, as a prophet, or as a painter, or as some other profession. But none of this is true. I'm not here to write, to preach, to paint, whether it's me or anybody else. All of this is only incidental. Everyone's real duty is to return to themselves. His identity at the time of his final death could have been that of a writer or a madman, or a prophet or a criminal—but these were not his duties, and it did not matter. His duty is to find his destiny, not a random destiny, but to live in it, wholeheartedly and unshakably.
