In 1907, he graduated from the Beiyang Army Academy, and later joined Feng Yuxiang's team, from a small soldier at the beginning to a regimental commander, the mixture can be said to be very good, and then in 1922, he also participated in the war between the direct and Feng clans, when he served as the brigade commander of the Twenty-fifth Army, and also had the title of one of the five tiger generals of the Northwest Army.
Later, in the 1920s and 1930s, there were many warlords at that time, and they were in a very chaotic situation, so many soldiers chose to occupy the mountains as bandits, from a soldier who served the country to an evil person who killed the people, and they did all kinds of evil, making the lives of the people in many places very difficult.
At that time, the two most powerful thieves were the Ma Zhenwu Department in Dongfu and the Dang Yukun Department in Xifu, and the leaders of these two departments could be said to have done no evil, especially Dang Yukun, who not only harmed the people, but also excavated many ancient tombs near Shaanxi, destroying many previous cultural relics, and the crime could be said to be very large. After the war, Song Yuanzhe captured more than 5,000 people and wanted to eliminate them, although his subordinates felt that he was very cruel, but Song Zheyuan always insisted on his ideas.
Soon the execution began near Fengxiang City, more than 5,000 prisoners were killed, only a young man was executed, his relatives suddenly appeared to intercede with Song Zheyuan to avoid death, but his behavior also made many people very angry, thinking that he was very disrespectful to life, but Song Zheyuan did not care.
