His name is Li Tiejun, born in 1901, a native of Meixian County, Guangdong, graduated from the first phase of the Whampoa Military Academy, and then studied abroad at the Army Command College in Berlin, Germany, and participated in the Northern Expedition, the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the War of Liberation and other wars after returning to China. This person and Hu Zongnan were classmates of the Huangpu Phase I, and later he became Hu Zongnan's right-hand man, as long as Hu Zongnan was promoted, he would give his original position to him, which can be said to be Hu Zongnan's most ideal successor. As we all know, Hu Zongnan was the fastest promoted in the first phase of the Whampoa Military Academy, and he may be the second fastest promoted.
Li Tiejun began to participate in the Northern Expedition War, he followed Hu Zongnan's ass all the way from platoon commander to regimental commander, in 1930 Hu Zongnan was appointed as the commander of the First Division, participated in the Jiang Gui War, and he was also promoted from the regimental commander of the First Brigade of the First Division to the commander of the First Brigade of the 1st Division, and also served as the deputy commander of the 1st Division. Li Tiejun is the absolute No. 2 person in Hu Zongnan's system, and it is no accident that the future is bright. But it was because he went too smoothly that he was quite conceited in his heart, and finally planted a big heel.
After the outbreak of the July 7 Incident, he took over Hu Zongnan's post as the commander of the 1st Division of the First Army and participated in the Battle of Songhu. However, as his official position grew larger, in 1938 Hu Zongnan resigned as commander of the First Army, and he took over as the commander of the First Army, until in 1944, when he was appointed lieutenant general of the 29th Army, his life changed greatly.
In 1944, after Li Tiejun was promoted to commander-in-chief of the 29th Army, he was sent to Xinjiang to garrison, mainly to quell local riots, but because of his low vigilance, his arrogance made him misjudged. In the end, when the local ethnic coalition army launched an attack on it, he responded in a hurry, resulting in heavy losses to the troops and almost losing the autonomy of Xinjiang. Because of this incident, his position in Hu Zongnan's clique was greatly reduced, and later after the temporary peace in Xinjiang, he was demoted to the position of commander of the Hexi garrison, and stayed in this position for one year, spending the first year of the outbreak of civil war.
But Li Tiejun was not reconciled, bent on returning to the battlefield, hoping to be humiliated, and constantly fighting for Hu Zongnan, in 1947 Hu Zongnan drew the reorganized Third Division, the reorganized 15th Division, and the 206th Division and the defenders of Luoyang, a total of 8 brigades formed the 5th Corps, let Li Tiejun serve as the commander of the corps, originally Li Tiejun wanted to seize this opportunity, but fate always seemed to be unable to pass with him.
He encountered the troops of his old classmate Chen Geng, and eventually his 5th Corps and the reorganized 3rd Division were beaten by Chen Geng's corps near Xiping County in western Henan, which caused Li Tiejun to be destroyed by the wisdom of half a lifetime, but he had better luck and led the remnants to escape, but his position plummeted, and he eventually withdrew from Hu Zongnan's clique.
After the defeat of Li Tiejun, Hu Zongnan also lost confidence in him, and his military career fell to the bottom, and he finally chose to resign and spent the civil war at home in Nanjing. In February 1949, the Kuomintang reorganized the Sixty-second Army in order to strengthen its defenses in guangdong, but it was uncertain who would hold the post of commander. The Ministry of National Defense for the selection of military commanders, hoping to consider from the Guangdong central military generals, Li Tiejun learned of it, felt that there was hope for a comeback, so he actively ran, and finally demoted him to the rank of commander of the 62nd Army, the Ministry of National Defense considered that he was once the commander of the corps, as a small military commander is a bit undignified, so it was not long before he was appointed deputy commander-in-chief of the Hainan Defense Force, and also let him command the army infantry instructor.
Li Tiejun made a comeback again, thanked the Ministry of National Defense for his trust, and decided that he must do a good job in achieving a little success, and the Nationalist army won a victorious battle in the Battle of Kinmen, which gave him the confidence to defend Hainan. Before the Battle of Hainan began, he again made a big publicity in front of the officers and men of the 62nd Army, blackened the People's Liberation Army, and fiercely washed the brains of his subordinates, so that the 62nd Army had an iron heart to fight with the People's Liberation Army to the end.
As a result, the 62nd Army was the fiercest unit in the entire Hainan Campaign, almost to the point of madness. After the Battle of Hainan began, the 62nd Army, from the regimental commander to the commander, all took the lead in charging into the battle, and even the chiefs of staff at all levels threw themselves into the battle with their own miscellaneous troops, but all their efforts were in vain, and finally the deputy commander was captured, the chief of staff was killed, Li Tiejun broke through with the remnants, retreated from Haikou, and had to admire Li Tiejun's success every time he escaped.
After the Battle of Hainan, he completely lost his fighting spirit, in the Kuomintang army, after 4 years of airborne salary, he went through the retirement procedures, and finally immigrated to California, usa, and spent the rest of his life until his death in 2002, at the age of 99.
