Eating and drinking every day could not extinguish Xu Guangda's desire to return to the party organization that was constantly burning in his heart.

Xu Guangda heard and witnessed the arrest of communists gradually subsiding, which made his desire to find the party organization more and more intense. At that time, the CCP organizations, including the central organs of the CPC, focused almost on the south in the 1920s and 1930s, and Xu Guangda's eager return to the team could only be realized in the south.

Going south became the only choice for Xu Guangda, who crossed the Yellow River and crossed the Yangtze River again, persevering in his search, and finally in May 1929, Xu Guangda found the CCP organization in Wuhu, Anhui Province, and returned to the life he longed for.
After only two months in Wuhu, Xu Guangda was informed to go to Shanghai to attend a military training course organized by the Central Military Commission. In order to make the trip safe and not to have possible accidents, Xu Guangda changed Xu Panzhou's name to Xu Luohua and rushed to Shanghai alone. After completing the two-month military training course, Xu Guangda accepted an arduous and glorious task assigned to him by the CPC Central Committee and went to Hubei's Honghu Su District as a representative of the PARTY Central Committee to engage in military struggle and expand the construction of base areas. Xu Guangda still changed Xu Luohua to Xu Guangda from the perspective of security, which means that the party's bright future will certainly be reached. Since then, this name has accompanied General Xu Guangda throughout his life. Although Xu Guangda changed his name several times, the only thing that did not change was his loyalty to the party and the revolutionary cause.
The Honghu Su District, where Xu Guangda was going, was established in September and November 1927, and the peasants in Qiuyang, Jianli, and other counties in the Honghu area launched armed insurrection under the leadership of the party aimed at overthrowing the brutal rule of the Kuomintang.
Since the day the Red Base Area was established, it has undoubtedly become a thorn in the eye of the enemy, and in addition, the cadres of the Red Army themselves lack military attainments and have gradually fallen into difficulties in the enemy's frequent encirclement and suppression; it is precisely in such an extremely urgent situation that the Central Committee has decided to appoint Xu Guangda and other comrades who understand military struggle to go to the Honghu Soviet Area to actively participate in the organizational construction of the Red Army, especially to give play to their talents in military struggle.
In September 1929, Xu Guang reached the Dahong Lake Su District, and soon after, he was appointed chief of staff of the Red Sixth Army. Xu Guangda, as the think tank of this Red Army unit, witnessed first-hand the lack of overall quality of the unit and the lack of proper training. He devoted a great deal of effort to the rapid completion of the transformation of this unit into a revolutionary soldier, personally compiled training materials, opened a Red Army military academy for training grass-roots Red Army officers, and gradually regularized the ranks of the Red Army. In addition, he actively led and commanded troops to participate in the battle, skillfully and freely used various tactical tactics to attack the invading enemy, and successively won many battles in the Honghu area.

In particular, in July 1930, Xu Guangda was ordered to lead the 22nd Regiment to cover the retreat of the main force of the 2nd Army of the Red Army, and the 22nd Regiment entered the position and fought several times the enemy who came to attack for a day, but never let the enemy advance half a step.
However, in the fierce fighting, the 22nd Regiment led by Xu Guangda also lost contact with the superiors who were transferred. In the face of this situation, Xu Guangda calmly and calmly demanded that the commanders and fighters always strengthen their revolutionary confidence, and that the leaders at higher levels would certainly contact us in various ways. At the same time, he understood even more that we must not be trapped here by the enemy, we must fight out, and only by jumping out of the enemy's encirclement can we revitalize the combat effectiveness of the Red Army. To this end, Xu Guangda actively deployed the battle with the enemy on the one hand, and on the other hand, sent reconnaissance personnel to investigate the path that could effectively break through. When the scouts sent out told him the news that he could break through from a cliff, Xu Guangda was very happy, and personally went to the field to inspect, actively preparing the ropes, machetes and other tools needed to climb the cliff. In order to make it easier for the troops to achieve the suddenness and concealment of the breakthrough, Xu Guangda set the time of the breakthrough at night, so that the enemy could not easily detect the movement of the Red Army.
When night came, Xu Guangda led the soldiers of the 22nd Regiment to climb the cliff and jump out of the enemy's encirclement. The enemy opened fire on the position of the 22nd Regiment early in the morning, and after a random fight and saw that there was no movement in the opposite position, he had the courage to come to the Red Army position, but there was already no one there, and the arrogant plan to eliminate this Red Army was completely ruined.
After highlighting the heavy siege, Xu Guangda did not hastily go to find the main force of the Red Army and not let the enemy know the whereabouts of the main force of the Red Army, but instead adopted the opposite method, fighting guerrillas in circles with the enemy in the deep mountains and old forests, and thus insisted on fighting for more than two months, not only preserving the effective strength of the Red Army, but also opening up a base area according to local conditions. It can be said that since Xu Guangda entered the Honghu Su District, he has made important contributions to the establishment of the revolutionary base area in western Hunan and Hubei with Honghu Lake as the center, and has made unremitting efforts to cultivate many cadres with high military attainments in the future establishment of the Honghu Second.
The most touching thing is that Xu Guangda has never changed his loyalty to love, in 1922, 14-year-old Xu Guangda and Only 9-year-old Zou Jinghua, by the father's generation to determine the doll kiss, there is no doubt, this is a typical feudal arranged marriage. The two were married on September 28, 1928.
