Those ugly little particles can be removed by eye cream, don't be naïve, it may be a tumor

Xiao Zhang recently found that there were several white hard "millet grains" growing under his eyes. Although there is no uncomfortable feeling, it is very affecting the appearance, and a thick layer of foundation is applied to the face when applying makeup to barely cover it.

Some say it's syringoma; others say it's fat particles. Xiao Zhang went to the Internet to check, these two skin diseases look similar, really big head. It is also the "small grain of rice" around the eye, what is the difference between them, and how to treat it?

How do syringomas and fat particles grow?

1. What is syringoma?

Syringoma also has several awkward names, called syringe cystoma, or syringe cyst adenoma, which is a hamartoma that differentiates into the end ducts of small sweat glands.

For example, if your fat metabolism is abnormal and the small sweat gland duct is blocked, a small sarcoma will form under the catheter, which looks like a comma or tadpole in three dimensions, which is also a characteristic manifestation of syringoma.

(Eyelid syringoma)

Its cause is not fully determined, and the following points have been found [1]:

Related to heredity, some patients have a family history;

Associated with endocrine hormone levels, it is aggravated during puberty, menstruation, and pregnancy;

It is related to the individual's constitution. Syringomas can occur at any age, but are more common in women, especially adolescent and middle-aged women.

2. What are fat granules?

The scientific name of the fat particle is "milia pimples". Its formation is relatively simple, the most likely cause is the skin of the tiny wounds, such as the skin is too dry, sunburned, or scrub, exfoliation and other processes caused by the naked eye is difficult to detect the subtle damage, the skin in the process of self-repair may form a small white cyst.

Another common possibility is that the skin at the opening of the sweat glands is "keratinized", that is, covered by the stratum corneum. In this way, the fat secreted under the skin cannot be discharged to the epidermis normally, and it has to accumulate in the sebaceous gland duct, and the skin "expands" again, forming white or yellowish fat particles.

Human skin is the thinnest in the eyelid (upper and lower eyelids), so we often see fat particles growing in the eyelid area, especially obvious.

Many girls think that "the fat particles around the eyes are blamed on the eye cream is too moist", this pot eye cream can not back!

Thankfully, these two things, while affecting aesthetics, are not contagious, so they are not as much troublesome as "pimples". Most importantly, don't look at them as "tumors, cysts" or the like, but they are all benign and generally do not affect your health.

Can the difference between syringoma and fat particles be seen in appearance?

Syringomas, like fat particles, like to grow around the eyes, but there are different places.

Syringomas can grow on the eyelids, face and neck, armpits, abdomen, vulva, etc., but most grow on the eyelids or cheeks, especially the lower eyelids, which is more "annoying".

Moreover, the syringoma is a large piece, or symmetrical growth on both sides of the cheek, from the tip of the needle to the size of mung bean, ranging from a few millimeters to 1 centimeter in diameter, can be tan, pale yellow or similar to the skin of the flesh, the surface is shiny, slightly raised, a little hard to touch, but can not move. The rash worsens during a woman's puberty, pregnancy, premenstrual period, or when taking hormonal drugs for women.

Most people generally don't feel anything special, and a few experience itching or burning sensations when they're stuffy, sweaty, or sun-based. If the syringoma grows in the vulva, there will also be an itching sensation.

Syringoma can be divided into 3 types:

Eyelid type, which is also the most common.

Eruptive type, which is more common in male adolescents and is less common in people, but the rash will mostly appear in pieces on the chest, stomach, and inner upper arms. (Does the girl suddenly feel balanced?) )

The localized type, such as the one that grows only on the back of the finger, is called "acropodular syringoma"; the only one that grows on the vulva and clitoris is called a "genital syringoma".

In general, dermatologists can make a diagnosis based on where the syringoma is, the characteristics of the population, and typical manifestations, and rarely need to do other tests.

Fat particles generally also grow on the face, most of them grow on the forehead, cheeks and around the eyes, especially like to grow around the eyelids of women, but it is smaller than the syringoma as a whole, about the size of the tip of the sesame needle; the color is also different from the syringoma, the syringoma is close to the skin color, and the fat particles are dotted around the eyes like white or beige small sesame seeds.

There are also small pimples that grow above the knees, are also small papules the size of white rice grains, and are a bit like "goosebumps", but they are also easy to diagnose.

Do you want to go to the hospital for treatment if you have "small rice grains" on your face?

Syringomas and fat particles are "stubborn molecules" that basically do not resolve on their own, and it is impossible to expect them to "disappear" automatically. However, the general symptoms are not serious, and doctors recommend that treatment is not needed.

However, many fairies still want to remove it for the sake of beauty, what to do?

1. How to treat fat particles?

The way to deal with fat particles is to break through them. But because it's close to the eye area, don't pick it yourself (especially the hand-wrecked party, hold on to me)! This disinfection is not strict and easy to infect, but also worried about accidentally hurting the eyes, it is recommended to go to the dermatology department of the hospital to register a number.

The doctor will disinfect your skin with iodophor, then take out the sterile needle of the disposable syringe, pierce the needle into the fat particles to a certain depth before picking apart the epidermis, and squeeze the bottom of the fat particles with a disinfectant cotton swab at the same time, you can squeeze it out.

After squeezing out, remember to disinfect again, and do not get wet with water for 24 to 48 hours to prevent infection. Laser treatment is also available. After the fat particles are picked, there is a possibility of recurrence, and it is difficult to prevent recurrence, but it is okay to relapse.

How to prevent fat particles from growing out? These details, take out a small book to remember well:

Usually pay attention to eye cleanliness, try to keep the skin in the eyelid area moisturized;

Cleansing or cosmetics should be non-irritating;

The eye cream should be refreshing and gently massaged to absorb it well when used;

When using exfoliating products, take care to avoid the skin around the eyes to prevent damage.

2. How is syringoma treated?

At present, the main methods of treatment of syringoma are electrolytic therapy, carbon dioxide laser therapy, microneedling treatment and electrocoagulation therapy.

Due to the lax skin at the eyelid area, and the syringoma will implicate the upper two-thirds of the dermis layer, electrocoagulation, laser and other treatments will inevitably damage the dermis layer, and complications such as pain, edema, local ulcers, sunken scars, and pigmentation may occur after treatment.

The treatment rate of carbon dioxide lasers is high, but the side effects of persistent erythema after treatment are more common; microneedling is relatively ineffective.

Electrolytic therapy has a high eradication rate, few recurrences, and mild side effects [2].

As for which treatment to choose, you also need a doctor to help you choose the appropriate treatment method based on your specific condition.

Unfortunately, there is currently no effective preventive measure against syringoma. Fortunately, it has no cracks on the surface of the skin and does not affect the use of cosmetics. In addition, do not squeeze or pick with needles, otherwise increase the risk of infection.
