Sinistra has not acknowledged the dangers of the new crown virus, refusing to be vaccinated and opposing the Belgian government's mandatory wearing of masks and vaccine passes. He has posted on social media calling the coronavirus a "small virus" and telling his fans that he is leaving the hospital and going home to recuperate.

Local reports said Sinestra was later forced by his coach, Osam Ignatius, to go to the hospital for treatment. The coach said in an interview that he told Sinistria that if he didn't go to the hospital for treatment, he wouldn't take him to training in the future. Sinistra then posted her presence in the intensive care unit on social media. A few weeks later, he died of complications from COVID-19. His wife made the announcement on Dec. 16.

Sinistra won the World Fighting Championship three times during his lifetime, with a record of 39 wins and 9 losses.
