On December 24, a black Tesla sedan in Liyang, Jiangsu Province, suddenly crashed into the river after passing through a bridge deck, and the police reported that a couple in the car was killed and one person was still rescuing, causing concern. On the morning of the 25th, on the news that the "accident occurred when the owner test drove the Tesla Y car", the local Tesla staff responded to the Nandu reporter that the vehicle involved was not a test drive, but the user had purchased a vehicle for his own use, and there was no Tesla staff on the car at the time of the incident. The staff member said he was not aware of the vehicle details, saying the specific cause of the accident was still awaiting the police investigation.
According to the surveillance video of the road section of the incident on the Internet, at about 12 o'clock on December 24, a black Tesla sedan passed through the road section of the incident, turned left at the intersection to the bridge, suddenly accelerated to the right, hit the side guardrail of the bridge deck and fell into the river.
On the same day, the traffic police brigade of the Liyang Municipal Public Security Bureau reported that at 12:16 on December 24, Chen X (male, 31 years old) drove a small car and his wife Jiang X (32 years old, all Liyang people) passing through the Xincheng Bridge in Liyang City, when he suddenly crashed into the guardrail on the east side of the bridge and fell into the river.
The Liyang Municipal Public Security Bureau said that after receiving the report, the bureau immediately organized police forces to rush to the scene to rescue them, and linked fire fighting, the "120" emergency center, the Blue Sky Rescue Team and the surrounding masses to rescue the 2 drivers and passengers on the car to the shore for medical rescue. At present, Mr. Chen died after ineffective rescue, Mr. Jiang is still in the rescue, and the cause of the accident is under further investigation.
