Luo Yuanfa is a native of Longyan, Fujian Province, born in 1910. General Luo's fame battle came in 1947.
In 1947, Chiang Kai-shek and I completely tore up the peace agreement and gathered 250,000 men and horses to carry out a "key offensive" against Yan'an and the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region by absolute superiority.
Under the circumstance that the enemy was strong and we were weak, Luo Yuanfa, then the commander of the Teaching Brigade, was ordered to lead the Teaching Brigade, the Seventh Police Regiment, and the Third Regiment of the Yanzhi Sub-district to form a defensive corps to fortify the frontal area of more than 100 miles wide in the east and west and at a depth of 70 to 80 miles. After that, General Luo led his troops to participate in the battles of Qinghua And Yangmahe, and after three battles and three victories, there was a folk song in northern Shaanxi that "Brigadier Luo is a good man, has a good reputation for leading troops, commands the Yan'an defense war, and protects the safety of the masses." In the later Liberation War, Luo Yuanfa successively served as the commander of the 6th Column of the Northwest Field Army, the commander of the 6th Army of the First Field Army, and other positions, leading his troops to participate in the immortal merits of liberating the Great Northwest, and he was also a political work cadre who became one of the "Ten Tiger Generals" in Yiye.
After the founding of New China, Luo Yuanfa was awarded the rank of lieutenant general. On May 10, 2010, General Luo died at the age of 100.
