Xi'an nucleic acid test map maker: spent 70 yuan to help 13 million people save time

A 94-year-old post-student who spent 70 yuan to save time for 13 million people.

It was December 18, and due to the escalation of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, some areas in Xi'an were closed and controlled. On this day, the Forest of Steles Museum and the Xi'an Museum were temporarily closed, and rumors of "new crown superimposed bleeding fever" spread on social media.

It was Saturday, and his software company was counting in the work group that who was in the "closed zone" could not come on Monday. Then, the person in charge, Xu Changpeng, received a notice from the head office that he "needed to hold a 48-hour negative nucleic acid test report" for work.

Xu Changpeng considered it for a while, and issued a decision in the group, and all the staff worked from home. But he still had to go to the head office for a meeting, and he needed the "negative report."

This weekend, many employees in Xi'an received this request, and large-scale nucleic acid testing became a "just need".

Where to test? After two years of wrestling with the coronavirus, many people are used to going to the nearest hospital. However, limited hospitals were unable to cope with the rapidly expanding demand for testing, and a large number of temporary sampling points were built in various districts and counties in Xi'an, and emergency sampling medical personnel were drawn from the city, Xianyang, Baoji, Weinan and Hanzhong.

Xu Changpeng was in Weiyang District, a winter night in the northwest, when the temperature dropped to below zero, and he waited in front of a sampling point, "queuing up a street." That night, such a procession, under the city wall, next to the bell tower, in front of the goose pagoda... It is not uncommon in Xi'an.

A colleague told Xu Changpeng that a new testing point had been added downstairs, and he rushed over, "40 people in a row, which is a small number." At 11 p.m., he finally "did it."

The "programmer" who graduated from Northwestern Polytechnical University with a degree in computer science began to think about whether he could do something, mark all the sampling points, and let everyone not run around, don't get together, don't wait.

"Doesn't make sense to do this"?

Xu Changpeng sent the idea to a friend, and immediately received objections.

The reason is very simple, the media, health code mini program, government information release platform can check the location of nucleic acid sampling points, "there is no point in doing this."

Xu Changpeng was not convinced. He observed that government information release platforms generally publish locations in the form of text, and the temporary new sampling points may not be updated in time. What he wants to do is a map of the city, which can be opened to see the location, "more intuitive".

Friends don't help. On Tuesday, he used his powers as a "boss" to get two employees and "let's do something meaningful."

"The most difficult part of this is actually data collection." Xu Changpeng explained that the two colleagues had to collect addresses through local media, the website of the disease control department, the "Wild Goose Pagoda Release", "Stele Forest Release", "Lotus Lake Release" and other district information platforms, convert the pictures into text, and summarize them for him. The first batch of sampling points in the Weiyang area had about 300.

Xu Changpeng knocked on the code.

He designed a program that can read the text of the location information, enter the Gaode map, obtain the latitude and longitude of the place, and then enter the latitude and longitude of the place through the developer interface to obtain a blue coordinate on the map. In the end, he spent 70 yuan to register a domain name, so that the map has a display page in the Internet space.

"After writing the script in 30 minutes, more than 1,000 sampling points in the city, 10 minutes to 'run' the end, half the effort." He said, "If you manually enter one by one, it will take at least 30 seconds to complete one by one." ”

Blue coordinates quickly appeared on the map page, they surrounded the Daming Palace National Heritage Park, crossed the Tang Dynasty Furong Garden and Qujiang Pond, and crossed the White Deer Plain... In Shaanxi Province, the contour seat of the "Qin figurines" is filled with a blue area.

Xu Changpeng recalled that he looked at the map and was excited: "Every coordinate means that four to ten medical personnel are busy, how many people are there." ”

Co-victory over the "Cyber Crisis"

Xi'an citizens who were asked to "bring a negative report to work" encountered a little trouble on Monday. They had to do nucleic acid testing, but they were still blocked out of subway stations, bus stops and buildings.

On December 20, during the epidemic prevention and control period, the electronic voucher "One Code Pass" for personal travel in Xi'an suddenly collapsed. When people enter public places, take public transportation, scan codes or refresh nucleic acid test results, they will see a page that says "Failed to obtain data".

"I can't brush the nucleic acid record, go to the basement into the company." Ms. Wang, a citizen of Xi'an, recalled that some colleagues entered the office area after registering their IDENTITY cards. She worked for a central company, and on weekends, the company sent someone to the employee's home to do nucleic acid sampling.

Xu Changpeng called this incident a "cyber crisis", that is, when people rely strongly on the Network, they may become too fragile, the Internet is stronger, the "impact resistance" is smaller, and once the network collapses, "nothing turns" is turned.

On the afternoon of the 20th, Liu Jun, director of the Xi'an Big Data Resources Management Bureau, responded when attending the press conference, saying that the frequency of use of "one code pass" has increased, causing greater pressure on the network and platform. "At about 7:40 a.m. on December 20, the number of visits from Xi'an 'One Code Pass' users surged, reaching more than 10 times the previous peak per second, causing network congestion." Appeal to the people, "non-essential do not bright code."

Xu Changpeng also saw this explanation, he used professional knowledge to analyze, small-scale "request" growth, the system is digestible, the number of visits really reached "10 times", the server should be "broken down".

Another joke that xi'an people passed on to each other was that the employees of the enterprise responsible for maintaining the one-code pass had to go upstairs to repair it, and the security guard asked him to brighten the code, he said, I can only brighten the code; the security guard said, you can go up the bright code.

The queue for nucleic acid testing and sampling is still very long, and a Xi'an citizen recalled that on the 20th, he and his wife took turns to queue, and they lined up alone for 3 hours.

This Monday, Xi'an added 42 new locally confirmed cases, double the number on the 19th.

The next day, at 4 p.m. on the 21st, Xu Changpeng's map was officially launched. He posted links on social media, and web browsing data showed that more than 2,300 people entered that day, and the average visit time was about 1 minute and 54 seconds. A friend sent a message to Xu Changpeng, saying that there were too many people at the sampling point at the door, and it took several hours to queue, looked at the map, went to another sampling point nearby, and completed it in 10 minutes, "really useful."

Another person frankly said to Xu Changpeng: "A 'lockdown', everyone can't come out of the community, and the map you made is even more useless." ”

"At this point in time today, it may have lost its meaning, but after the 'unsealing', everyone may still need it," Xu Changpeng said.

However, as of about 4 p.m. on the 23rd, the page was online for 48 hours, and the number of views rose to 36,000. "Xi'an citizens make nucleic acid map mini program" on Weibo hot search.

I'm not engaged in "citizen self-help"

The map that has just been launched is just a "prototype", and in Xu Changpeng's view, it still needs to be continuously improved. For example, the blue coordinates do not display the text place name, he sent a circle of friends for help, and immediately a former colleague intervened to solve it. For example, the map can only be marked, not navigated, and friends who once denied him joined his team. For example, after opening the web map, the coordinates are dense, and the phenomenon of stuttering will occur, and everyone will try to make the coordinates only displayed within the user's "screen" range. For example, web pages can only be forwarded, not obtained through search, and some people suggest that they make a real "small program". For example, it has been suggested that users can "comment" on sampling points and display queues in real time.

The total number of applicants for the examination in Shaanxi Province this year is nearly 170,000, of which about 135,000 candidates took the examination in Xi'an. On the 23rd, two days before the national unified admissions examination for master's degree students, the candidates of the Xi'an examination center fell into anxiety. The Shaanxi Provincial Education Examination Institute released information on the same day that it can coordinate candidates to borrow the exam in their place of residence; candidates in the control area and prevention zone of Xi'an City must hold two nucleic acid negative certificates within 48 hours, and candidates in other areas must take the test with a 48-hour nucleic acid negative certificate.

"This part of the need also has to be taken into account." At 10 p.m., Xu Changpeng called the team to a video conference. In the shot, every face is extremely young, and everyone discusses the problem of mini program production and map optimization.

"Big Brother, tonight (done)?!!" Hahahahaha! The young man in charge of scrolling the page information touched the back of his head and complained, but still accepted the task. When everyone said "bye-bye", a girl reconfirmed the details of the data combing.

The next day, the mini program "Yi Qin Bao" was launched. There is a "Graduate School Students" button in the lower right corner of the map page, click to see the QR code, scan the code to enter the "Examination and Research Mutual Aid Group", which is convenient for candidates to do nucleic acid testing as soon as possible. As of the afternoon of the 24th, hundreds of people had joined the group chat. The young volunteer team also produced an online Excel form and sent it to the group, adding new information such as nucleic acid sampling point contact information, appointment method, working hours and so on.

"I open sourced the program, the code can be used by anyone, I don't want to make my own, and I don't want to commercialize." Xu Changpeng said that any city that wants to do similar services can be, and anyone who wants to join this team to optimize the design and improve the function is also welcome at any time, "This is a meaningful thing."

He is a native of Xianning, Hubei Province, and was born in 1994. Xianning is next to Wuhan, and he happens to be at home in 2020, the Spring Festival that will be unforgettable in all of China. My sister Xu Changhong is a grassroots worker in townships and towns, who "gropes, visits, and registers" door to door every day and "never answers my phone"; her brother-in-law is a border guard soldier stationed in the Ali area. Xu Changpeng and his parents took his sister's children together until they were "unsealed".

Talking about his sister and brother-in-law, he has pride between his words, "I also hope to help others."

He studied at a university in Xi'an, worked in Xi'an, and during the Wuhan epidemic, he received a letter of appointment from a company in Xi'an, and in April 2020, he "entered Chang'an three times".

In Hubei, he saw for the first time an empty city that was "completely and completely blockaded", "as if no one in this city had ever existed." But after experiencing the initial panic, this time in Xi'an, he was completely calm. In his view, the unknown is the time when people are most afraid, and rumors are spread. Now he only chooses to believe the "authoritative" information and feels that it is not so terrible. "Like eating strawberries and getting a blood fever, many exaggerated rumors are false."

In social media, many Xi'an people and netizens criticized Xi'an's ineffective fight against the epidemic, resulting in the spillover of the epidemic. Mr. Xu has lived in both Beijing and Shenzhen, but he refuses to compare the management levels of the two super-first-tier cities with those of Xi'an. "They have a lot of capital and talent accumulation, and it is unfair to demand Xi'an by this standard." I am not engaged in 'self-help of citizens', but as a part of Xi'an, I stand with the Xi'an government and resist together. ”

He would prefer to see that after criticism, everyone can participate in urban management and anti-epidemic work, rather than just stopping at accusations and attacks.

On this point, Xu Changpeng has personally experienced it.

In 2012, he went to Northwestern Polytechnical University to study and became a restless "tosser" on campus.

In his sophomore year, he found a loophole in the academic system, so he downloaded the ID photos of all the girls in the school and made a beauty pageant website, "inspired by Zuckerberg's biopic "The Social Network.". Later, in order to study the Wi-Fi certification vulnerability, he conducted an attack experiment in the school library, so that many students connected to fake Wi-Fi, but entered the real account number and real password. Later, when the school network was attacked, the first thing the teacher at the information center thought of was him.

Eventually he helped the school and found the "hacker". After the Wi-Fi incident, he and his teachers seriously studied the certification issue, applied for a patent, and published a paper on InfoComm. Among them, "the visible light communication part is what I did."

"Breaking is not the goal, standing is." Xu Changpeng said.
