When it comes to Penglai, many people think of allusions such as "Penglai Wonderland" and "Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea", in reality, Penglai Pavilion and Qi Jiguang's hometown are the most representative scenic spots in the local area, and missing any of them will leave regrets.
In the cool early summer, I finally had the opportunity to walk into Qi Jiguang's hometown and understand the bits and pieces of this Ming Dynasty anti-Wu hero.
What is Wokou? Wo is the ancient Chinese's name for Japan, and Kou refers to pirates. The Wokou were Japanese pirates who roamed the coastal areas, and they were once powerful enough to compete with the army.
Qi Jiguang's ancestral home is Putian, Fujian, the sixth ancestor Qi Xiang was the founding hero of the Ming Dynasty, his son Qi Bin was named the general of Mingwei, hereditary Dengzhou Wei commanded the affairs, from this time on, the Qi family lived in Penglai QiFu, Qi Jiguang also spent a lot of time here.
When Qi Jiguang was born, the southeast coast was particularly seriously troubled, and the Mongols in the north took advantage of the situation to start wars from time to time. During the northerly winds of the sea, the Wokou often invaded by boat and established strongholds on the shore, ranging from thousands to tens of thousands. These people were brave and good at war, and at the beginning the Ming army often suffered defeats.
Qi Jiguang initially served as the commander of Dengzhou Wei, recruited new soldiers in 1555, founded the Mandarin Duck Array with both offensive and defensive defense, and won many battles in Zhejiang and Fujian, which made the Wokou feel frightened and made the southeast coast basically free of Wukou. In 1568, Qi Jiguang was transferred to Jizhou and rebuilt and strengthened the Great Wall. In 1583, Qi Jiguang was transferred to Guangdong, and then returned to his hometown of Dengzhou, where he died of illness. Qi Jiguang spent a total of 60 years in the world, and most of his life defended border passes, repeatedly defeated strong enemies, and created a stable living environment for the people, and his merits will never be forgotten by future generations.
Before entering Qi Jiguang's hometown, the first thing you see is the granite-built Mother-Child Festival Filial Piety, built in the 44th year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty, in 1565 AD, and was built by Chaoyan in recognition of the chastity of Qi Jiguang's grandmother Yan And the filial piety of his father Qi Jingtong. The ancient archway is magnificent but not losing its restraint, and its exquisite composition and delicate carving are amazing, and it is a typical representative of ancient carving art.
Qi Jiguang's hometown includes archway street, Gong Ancestral Hall, Qi Mansion, Back Garden, Hengqi Hall, Zhizhi Hall, Wangyun Tower, Taoyuan Cave, Arms Hall, Gourd Garden, Holy Assembly Hall and other buildings.
Qi Mansion is the residence of Qi Bin and the place where the descendants of the Qi family live. In the Qing Dynasty, the Qi family declined, and the Qi mansion was gradually abandoned and crippled, and the Qi mansion seen now was rebuilt according to the style of the Ming and Qing dynasties.
Since Qi Jiguang official worships Yipin, according to the regulations, all halls are five-bay rooms.
Wangyun Tower is a building built by Qi Jiguang when he returned to his hometown, and is one of the high-rise buildings of the Ming Dynasty, which is convenient for viewing the moon and enjoying the scenery of Dengzhou. Qi Jiguang once went upstairs to write poems, and the couplet on the pillar in front of the Wangyun Building is his masterpiece.
Zhizhitang is the place where Qi Jiguang handles official affairs and reads and writes, and Qi Jiguang once wrote "Zhizhitang Collection". The name of the Hall of Cessation expresses the owner's sentiment of "humility and self-sustainment, and obtains auspiciousness in silence", which alludes to the meaning of "the void room is white, and the auspicious stop" in the ancient book "Zhuangzi".
Shandong Province is divided into East China, and if it is divided according to the north-south dividing line, it is located in the northern region. Compared with other northern regions where vegetation is relatively less dense, Shandong is green everywhere, especially in Qi Jiguang's hometown in Penglai.
All kinds of flowers and trees are planted in the courtyard and outside the courtyard, showing a vibrant ecological environment, walking through the courtyard with a strong classical atmosphere, not feeling that you are in the north, but there is an illusion of being in Jiangnan.
The back garden is one of the most worthwhile places to visit in Qi Jiguang's hometown, which makes the family of martial artists in Qi Mansion more poetic and tender. Green grass and trees, bright red flowers, the garden in the poems and paintings can be compared with the Jiangnan garden.
Coming out of the Qi Mansion, I saw a stone archway, this archway is called the Father and Son Governor's Square, which was built at the same time as the Mother and Child Festival Filial Piety Square, which was built by the Ming Dynasty Yan in recognition of the merits of Qi Jiguang's father and son. It is also made of granite, but the father and son governor's workshop are more majestic and upright. The archway is delicately carved and is a rare treasure of Ming Dynasty stone carving.
