Amazon has reached a settlement with U.S. federal agencies, and employees will be more likely to mobilize to form unions

The Wall Street Journal reported on December 24 that Amazon and the National Labor Relations Council (NLRB) reached a settlement agreement to make it easier for its employees to organize, at a time when workers in some parts of Amazon are continuing to push for unions.

Under the agreement, which the two sides approved Wednesday, Amazon will notify past and present warehouse workers that they have the right to organize in its facilities through internal communication. According to the NLRB, the agreement will also allow the federal agency to hold accountable more quickly in the event that Amazon violates the terms of the agreement.

Amazon has previously said it recognizes the right of its workers to form unions, but believes the move is unnecessary based on the salaries and benefits it offers.
