The feature mentioned here is called Passenger Play, and it can cause driver distraction and increase the risk of crashing.

An NHTSA spokesperson said in a statement that Tesla has notified the agency that it will push a software update to lock on the "passenger game" feature, making it unusable while the vehicle is in motion.

Safety advocates have long been concerned about Tesla cars, and drivers can be dangerous if their attention deviates from the road, especially when Autopilot mode is activated. In 2018, there was a fatal car accident in California, when the owner may have been attracted to mobile games and was distracted.
