Alonso plans to run in F1 for another two or three years before moving on to other races

The Spaniard is currently on contract with alpine racing team to race season after season, and in the two years away from F1, he has successfully tried other car races.

While 2021 wasn't the best season of his two-time world champion career, his podium performance at the Qatar Grand Prix was undoubtedly encouraging and rewarding.

As Alonso has often said, his return is to allow the Alps to be competitive as they enter the new era of F1 in 2022, when at age 42 or 43 he intends to continue racing elsewhere, such as the World Endurance Championship, the Dakar Rally and the Indy 500, which he has tried before.

Speaking on the Spanish television programme, Alonso said: "I hope to run in F1 for another two or three years and then move on to other categories of car racing because I love driving. I'm happy to be back and looking forward to next season, I left F1 for two years, but in other races, at WEC, at the Dakar Rally, I've always had the steering wheel in my hand, so I actually haven't stopped. Nothing has changed, everything is the same, F1 is such a small world, it's always made up of the same people, not much has changed. ”

Speaking about age on the TV show, Alonso said: "When you're old enough, it's hard, it's more complicated in F1 than other types of cars, so I struggled with the first few races. ”
