Qing Wei | Qingxin waited for Mo Lankai

Text | Han Red Army

Orchids are originally flowering plants. The beauty of flowers, exquisite, elegant and elegant; the fragrance of flowers, the fragrance of floating, fragrant and far away. But somehow, the pot of Molan on my balcony has been raised for more than two years and still has no flowers.

Raising flowers requires slow effort, panic and urgency. There are no orchids to appreciate the leaves, and over time, it is also interesting to see the leaves. Flowers are good with flowers, and leaves are wonderful with leaves. Compared with varieties such as Huilan and Wenxin orchid, the leaves of Molan are broad and thick, slender and slender, delicate and jade, and beautiful in shape.

I remember when I bought it back in the early spring of last year, this molan had only four or five leaves. After more than a month of keeping in clay pots, one day it was found that a two-centimeter orchid sprouted from its roots, shaped like a spear tip, and in less than a week, it grew to four or five centimeters, and three or four more trees grew next to it.

Qing Wei | Qingxin waited for Mo Lankai

As Song Shi wrote, "Spring to orchid buds are extraordinarily long", although the orchid buds at this time appear yellow and tender, a few new shoots you chase after me, thrive, quite a bit of erection.

The leaves grow with the wind. Under the spring breeze, the orchid buds continue to grow, and the longest one can reach more than a foot. After growing up, Mo Lan Leaves, heroic and sassy, stood up like a sword, and responded to the phrase "Ye Li contains righteousness". Especially in the summer and autumn season, after drinking several times full of water, the orchid leaves are mostly "upright" or "semi-upright", pointing directly to the sky, proudly independent, its meaning is also firm, its affection is also chaste, which is the best embodiment of the orchid "gentleman's wind". The flowers are not red, but the leaves are green in all seasons. "Orchid leaves spring leaves" "cloth leaves He onion green", the leaves of Mo Lan are thick, the four seasons are like green, always exuding vitality, the ancients once had the metaphor of "green jade". Autumn and winter are approaching, but the weather is sunny for days.

On weekends when I had nothing to do at home, I moved Mo Lan from the flower stand to under the window. The warm sunlight sprinkled on the verdant leaves of Molan through the glass, green as onions and jade, more fresh and pleasant, more and more soul-catching. Those who prefer orchid leaves are not the only ones. The Ming Dynasty Zhang Yu has a poem "Wing Lan Ye": "The weeping dew is chaotic, and the wind and shadow are self-oblique." The layman understands this, and sees the leaves better than the flowers." Through the verses, we can imagine such a picture: in the early morning, the red sun rises, the crystal dew hanging on the orchid leaves reflects the dawn; the breeze is gentle, and the figure of the orchid leaf is lightly oblique, as if dancing with the wind... No wonder the poet said that viewing orchid leaves is better than appreciating orchids, and this kind of interest, this elegance, this level of realm, is really not something that laypeople like me can appreciate and achieve.

Lan Ye, swaying in the verses and chapters, also flutters on the pen and ink drawing paper. Xu Wei, Zheng Banqiao, Bada Shanren, Feng Zikai and other famous artists have added to the "blue eye" of orchid leaves. If you carefully appreciate the fine paintings they have passed down, you may find the same law: thick ink as leaves, light ink as flowers, sparse leaves and simple flowers, and fat leaves and thin flowers. A few strokes, both form and spirit. Between the transformation of the pen edge, the sparse orchid leaves are integrated into the brushwork of calligraphy, the left stroke is free, the right stroke is vigorous, there is Lan's elegant posture, there is Lan's pure character, giving Lan Ye aesthetic awareness and observation, which not only presents a flowing talent, but also shows the literati style. Mo Lan's flowering period is in winter and spring, and it is planned to add some fertilizer to the pot these days.

Of course, whether it can blossom depends on various factors such as "water, fertilizer, wind, soil, and light", which is indeed a technical work. Some time ago, I read Mr. Hu Shi's "Yanglan" story. At that time, a friend gave Mr. Hu Shi a pot of orchids, and he liked it endlessly, watered and fertilized and basked in the sun, and was attentive and meticulously maintained. When it was cold, I hurried into the house, afraid of freezing. I thought about the orchid and wanted to see it three times a day, but in the end I didn't see the blossom. In addition to regret, Mr. Li wrote a small poem "Hope": "I came from the mountains and brought orchids and grasses; planted in a small garden, hoping that the flowers would bloom early..." This poem was later modified by Chen Xiande and Zhang Bi of Taiwan and accompanied by a song, renamed "Orchid Grass", which was sung from Taiwan to the entire Chinese world. Some people have said that the orchid grass may not be an orchid, but in any case, the popularity of this song shows Chinese love for orchids. For the matter of "raising orchids", there is no flower blossom, and Mr. Li is certainly helpless, but more is relieved and hopeful. Whether the flowers bloom or not ultimately depends on fate.

Just like our pursuit of all beautiful things, although we have made every effort, we may not be able to see "full of flowers and many incense". But the green orchid leaves are not a result, a return? The ancients had clouds "raising orchids and raising orchids", and those who raised orchids, orchids were raised in pots and also in the heart. If this pot of Mo Lan can blossom this year, it is naturally a good thing that cannot be sought. But I am not impatient, not demanding, it is enough to have this pot of lush orchid leaves, I am willing to stay with it, and I am willing to wait with it...
