Xu Shiyou once angrily drew a steel knife in front of Xu Xiangqian and issued a fierce oath?

Xu Shiyou went to the Shaolin Temple in his early years, and after 8 years of meticulous hard training, he mastered a very strong Shaolin Qigong skill, especially the proficiency of knife techniques, 12 copper plates stacked together, a knife split, the copper plates were divided into 24 pieces. When he left the Shaolin Temple, he was already a tough guy with high martial arts and steel and iron bones. After joining the revolution, Xu Shiyou relied on this Shaolin martial art to make the enemy feel frightened and repeatedly accomplished great feats for the revolution.

At the beginning of Xu Shiyou's participation in the revolution, he served as the leader of the peasant volunteer brigade. At that time, there was a shortage of weapons, xu Shiyou led more than 30 team members to collect raw materials, forge large knives, and use large knives to snatch guns from the enemy's hands and arm themselves. In November 1927, Xu Shiyou led the Peasant Volunteer Brigade to participate in the Jute Uprising. Wherever he went, the big knife was taken with him, and he instructed his subordinates, "We lack weapons, and the big knife is the best weapon!"

When the Red Fourth Front attacked Huang'ancheng, Xu Shiyou was the commander of the 34th Regiment of the Red 12th Division. Under the coach of Xu Shiyou, everyone in the 34 regiment would punch and slash. Two enemy regiments attacked the position of the 34th regiment in a vain attempt to open the gap and flee south. Under the cover of artillery fire, the enemy, with a large number of people, rushed to the position of the 34th Regiment, and some rushed into the forward position. Xu Shiyou saw the situation, drew a large knife from his back, stepped forward to kill the enemy group, and engaged in hand-to-hand combat with the enemy. The enemy was slashed to death, his soul was torn apart, and he retreated to Huang'an City in a short while. Xu Shiyou raised a large knife and led the officers and men to chase the enemy into Huang'an City and engage in street battles with the enemy. By midnight, all the enemies in the city had been annihilated.

Since then, Xu Shiyou's nickname of "Captain of the Great Knife Regiment" has been famous.

In 1933, Xu Shiyou was appointed deputy commander of the Red 9th Army and commander of the 25th Division. At Xu Shiyou's request, the Red 25th Division, from division commander to soldier, each had a large knife. In October, the Sichuan warlords led by Liu Xiang gathered 200,000 people to launch a six-way "siege" against the Red Fourth Front in the Sichuan-Shaanxi Soviet Region. In early June 1934, the Red Fourth Front retreated to the Wanyuan front line at the foot of Daba Mountain, where it launched a heroic defense of Wanyuan. Xu Shiyou and Chen Haisong, the political commissar of the division, were ordered to take the Red 25th Division and hold the Damian Mountain on the front of Wanyuan City to resist Liu Xiang's main force.

On July 16, Tang Shizun, commander-in-chief of the Sichuan Army, launched a fierce attack with 8 brigades of troops on Kongjiashan Mountain southeast of Wanyuan City and south of Tianmen to the west. Relying on its own large number of troops, the Sichuan army did not hesitate to use the tactics of the sea of people to carry out wave-style charges. The Sichuan army charged 1 regiment at a time, and if 1 regiment did not come up, it would increase to 2 regiments, or even 4 regiments. Relying on favorable terrain, the Red Army inflicted heavy casualties on the Sichuan Army with short firepower and rolling stones.

On August 6, the Sichuan army launched another fierce attack, pouring all its strength into the entire line of Huacai Mountain, Kongjia Mountain, Damian Mountain, and South Tianmen outside Wanyuan City, and Tang Shizun personally commanded the front line.

Under the command of Xu Shiyou, the commanders and fighters of the Red Army repeatedly repelled the enemy's charge. Taking advantage of the fierce fighting, an enemy force burst in from the combined headquarters of the 73rd and 75th regiments of the Red 25th Division, and the vanguard enemy had entered the foothills on the right side of the division's command post, and the situation was very critical. Xu Shiyou drew a large knife, flew out of the headquarters, and led the reserve team to rush towards the enemy. Xu Shiyou saw an enemy commander shouting with a pistol, so he flew over and slashed his head with a knife. I don't know if the knife was too fast or if it was slashed so hard that the guy's head rolled down the hill a long way. Once again, the invading enemy was defeated. After returning to the command post, Xu Shiyou found that a large knife of pure steel had actually cut a blade without a blade.

Xu Xiangqian, commander-in-chief of the Red Fourth Front, personally inspected the front line of Damian Mountain, and after listening to Xu Shiyou and others give a detailed account of the situation between the enemy and ourselves, he said happily: "Your Red 25th Division has fought very well. The 30th Army on your right and the 4th Army on the left also fought very well; Damian Mountain is one of the enemy's main directions of attack and a key position on the whole front, and it must be resolutely defended. Finally, Xu stood up and said solemnly: "The test is severe, but we have the fighting style that we have fought from a hundred battles - hard!" With this style, no enemy will be able to defeat us. Listening to Commander Xu's words, Xu Shiyou violently drew out the steel knife on his back and slashed a wooden pier in half with a wave of his arm: "Please rest assured commander-in-chief, as long as I Xu Shiyou is alive, the enemy will not want to climb the Damian Mountain." This is either my graveyard or their graveyard. ”

After more than two months had passed, The Great Face Mountain stood majestically, and the Wanyuan City was as solid as a rock. With the joint efforts of the Red 25th Division and other troops, the Sichuan Army has never been able to advance one step.

In September 1934, the Red Fourth Front, under the command of Xu Xiangqian, attacked in all directions, successfully smashing the six-way "siege" of the Kuomintang army and consolidating and expanding the Sichuan-Shaanxi Soviet region.
