Arc Vector debuted in 2018, and the very sci-fi shape makes people have to think that this is a concept car, but recent news indicates that vector has completed the final test and opened pre-sale, with a price of up to 90,000 pounds (about 763,000 yuan).
Even at the time, the electric motorcycle attracted a lot of attention, as well as investment and orders, but Arc was on the verge of closure in September 2019. A year later, Arc's founder, former Jaguar Land Rover engineer Mark Truman, saved the project, pouring money into saving Arc. Development has continued since then, and now that final testing has been completed, once-scheduled customers will soon receive their long-awaited sci-fi electric motorcycles.
Although Vector has been seen at various shows and events before, this is the first time Arc has shown it removing something under its carbon fiber shell – and we're seeing more! The body is very small, with headlights, the "fuel tank" section (where the CCS DC charging port is located) and the seat as a whole, located on top of the carbon-shell body, which houses the battery cell. The abdomen is an AC motor made of Arc.
The essence of the production Vector is roughly the same as the original design, including carbon fiber front and rear swing arms with a double cross-arm center front, which is expected to combat the drawbacks of such a design by positioning the position of the main arm, so it can still operate effectively during braking.
The direct-acting hlins TTX shocks have not changed, as has the scissor steering system, which minimizes the connection between the suspension and the front wheels to eliminate tilt. However, the original design was chain drive, and the final machine was driven with a quieter belt. Arc also crafts custom footrests and mounts for each buyer, allowing them to best fit into the 840mm high seat and have the best riding position for them.
In terms of performance and endurance, Arc said that vector has a top speed of 200km/h, acceleration of 0-100km/h can be completed in 3.2 seconds, the range is 430 km, and the charging time through CCS (combined charging system) is only 40 minutes, using the same socket as many electric vehicles. Although it is an electric motorcycle, thanks to the extensive use of carbon fiber material, its curb weight is only 220 kg.
Not only that, Arc also plans to make vector one of the most technologically advanced electric motorcycles, enabling more intelligent driving through helmets equipped with HUDs. For example, through the camera equipped with the rear, the purpose of blind spot monitoring can be achieved on the HUD display screen. In addition to this, this helmet also provides voice control and haptic feedback functions.
Every year, there are many such sci-fi electric motorcycle concept cars unveiled, but there are very few that really have the ability to mass-produce it, and for most startups, no financial support for even the best projects is in vain. Arc Vector was not dare to say that it would eventually be able to deliver in mass production, although the price was very expensive, but at least there was no "miscarriage".
