Two days ago, Xiaofang reported
The news that "The King of Stories" is about to be discontinued

Many friends said
Nowadays, there are fewer and fewer newsstands
Those childhood books don't know where to buy them
……
However, today's small shop is going to say
The veteran magazine Reader
A little different
Someone for it in Shanghai
A bookstore was opened
From the middle school days
Xiaofang is a loyal reader of "Reader"
When I grew up, I worked in the city center
Countless times passing by the Bund, did not expect
The Reader bookstore is located here
Classic architecture, understated doorways
Just like this magazine
A memory for our generation
It's familiar, it's nostalgic
The Reader bookstore has a "time corridor"
145 glass lattices
The cover of 145 copies of Reader magazine was placed
Walk through the hallway
It is like witnessing the change of "The Reader"
And the end of the corridor
Stored are more precious old magazines
Reader has been a full magazine since its inception
These magazines are
Solicited from a Shanghai reader
In 1981, Mr. Cui of Baoshan, Shanghai, found a newly launched magazine with Chinese and foreign American texts, which made him feel refreshed, so he would buy it every time he passed the newsstand. That year, his son Xiao Cui was only a few years old.
- This magazine is Reader.
"Zhiyin", "Story Society", "Popular Movie"... These national-level well-known magazines were as popular as the current video trumpets and live celebrities in the 1980s.
By the 1990s, Xiao Cui, a second-grade elementary school student, fell in love with the magazine Reader, which his father had been buying. In order to make up for all the "Readers", on the weekend, he would go to the old book stall to rummage through them one by one, buy them home and read them repeatedly, then use tape to seal the edges and collect them into a book.
This is also the era when "The Reader" was in full swing. In 2004, the circulation of Reader was the first in Asia and the fourth in the world.
In 2017, the newsstands on the streets of Shanghai were demolished one after another. Everyone is holding a mobile phone to brush videos and watch online shopping, and few people buy magazines. Xiao Cui, who was drilling in the old book stall at that time, was already forty years old, and he was a father.
Mr. Cui, who can no longer buy Reader in the newsstand, regrettably has to order online. Magazines of the same era as Reader, some closed and withdrew from the stage, and some sales plummeted, making survival worrying.
In 2018, Reader opened a readers' bookstore in a century-old building on the Bund in Shanghai. In order to show the history of the founding of the magazine, a total of 8 readers are willing to donate their full set of magazines since the inception.
In the end, The Reader chose Mr. Cui. The 666 issues of magazines that he and his father had collected for 38 years and were carefully sealed with tape by him as a child were treasured in the reader's bookstore.
"Walking into the bookstore, I have traveled back to the green years"
"Thanks to the Reader for their company,
We are all readers of others,
All await their readers."
In the Reader's Bookstore
There are a lot of testimonials left by old readers
After the 70s and 80s of that generation, recalling the "Reader" magazine, what comes to mind is actually the beautiful memories of the quiet reading pleasure of that year. When you come to the reader's bookstore, you will also sigh: there are so many people who have had a young time that was nourished by spiritual food.
Copying good words and sentences to "Reader" and accumulating materials for writing essays is the common memory of many student readers. The Reader's Bookstore has a curtain with engraved words from 40 years of Reader magazine.
Even the popular TV series "Thirty Only"
I also came to the reader's bookstore to shoot
