【Original】Four four sonnets of Rumi: countless praises

[English to Chinese] Two four-line poems of Rumi's poem

(i)

Every night the flowers are brilliant;

The peace of The True Zai makes my heart peaceful;

Countless praises surged from my heart;

The flame of passion burning,

Extinguish the despair in your heart.

Flowers every night

Blossom in the sky;

Peace in the Infinite;

At peace am I.

Sighs a hundredfold

From my heart arise;

My heart, dark and cold,

Flames with my sighs.

(ii)

He is the destination of my soul,

He surrounds my heart,

Fill my heart with joy.

Laughter comes from my mud bed,

Like a tree, I looked up;

For the source of joyful life,

Sweep away the dust of the soul.

He that is my souls’ repose

Round my heart encircling goes,

Round my heart and soul of bliss

He encircling is.

Laughing from my earthy bed

Like a tree I lift my head,

For the Fount of Living mirth

Washes round my earth.

(iii)

Time will quickly end people's sorrows,

The Wolf of Death is coming to tear these stupid sheep apart.

Look, how arrogant they are, they hold their heads high,

Until fate suddenly struck,

Sweep them all away.

Time bringeth swift to end

The rout men keep;

Death’s wolf is nigh to rend

These silly sheep.

See, how in pride they go

With lifted head,

Till Fate with a sudden blow

Smiteth them dead.

(iv)

Your beloved life is like a crow,

The valley where it was once exiled,

Silver wrapped and cold snow proud plum,

Red roses and nightingales.

Leave this moment in your heart,

When that moment is about to fade,

You will fly when it flies,

Look for it with a hundred lights and eyes.

Thou who lovest, life a crow,

Winter’s chill and winter’s snow,

Ever exiled from the vale’s

Roses red, and nightingales:

Take this moment to thy heart!

When the moment shall depart,

Long thou ‘lt seek it as it flies

With a hundred lamps and eyes.
