For this warlord, few people know that although this person is not as good as those big warlords who dominate one side, as a small warlord, he also had certain powers during the Republic of China period.
Chu Yupu was born in 1887 in Wenshang, Shandong. When he was young, he reported to have taken the Baoding Military Academy twice, but neither was successful. So he became a bandit in a huff, but at that time, the bandit also had a name called "Green Forest". But green forest and banditry are two different concepts.
In the last years of the Qing Dynasty, Chu Yupu defected to Chen Qimei, the governor of Shanghai, and later defected to the warlord Feng Guozhang during the "Second Revolution". He actually participated in the assassination of his former boss Chen Qimei. Just by virtue of this ingratitude, we can see who this person is.
At the time of the Beiyang warlords, there was a "dog meat general" named Zhang Zongchang, who was once a subordinate of Zhang Zuolin. In 1918, Chu Yupu defected to Zhang Zongchang and became a regimental commander and a member of the Feng clan.
In January 1926, Chu Yupu was appointed as the commander-in-chief of the front line of the Zhilu Coalition Army and the deputy commander of the Zhilu Coalition Army, and he jointly attacked the Nationalist Army with the Feng army, and then served as the Military Affairs Supervisor of the Zhilu Army, becoming a famous figure in the Beijing-Tianjin area.
In 1927, during the Northern Expedition of the National Revolutionary Army, Chu Yupu was again the commander of the former enemy of the Nationalist Army, leading the army to the south to resist, and was defeated in Tianjin in 1928, and almost the entire army was destroyed. Chu Yupu had to flee with Zhang Zongchang to Dalian, and after being under Japanese protection, Chu Yupu wanted to take the original territory again.
At this time, there were still many remnants of the Zhilu Army in the Shandong Peninsula, and they heard that Zhang Zongchang and Chu Yupu were preparing for a comeback, so they came to surrender. In December 1928, Zhang Zongchang and Chu Yupu held a secret meeting in Dalian to prepare to retake Shandong. At this time, the warlord in Shandong was Liu Zhennian, an old subordinate of Chu Yupu.
Why is Liu Zhennian in Shandong? Because Fang Yongchang of Zhang Zongchang's Fourth Army escaped, the remnants of it were given to Liu Zhennian, so Liu Zhennian established himself as the commander of the army. His ranks grew rapidly, and he incorporated the remnants of bandits in the Jiaodong area into 5 infantry divisions, 3 regiments of artillery, cavalry, and secret agents, as well as three battalions of engineers, logistics, and communications.
Defeated by his subordinates
Zhang Zongchang and Chu Yupu believed that Liu Zhennian was not so terrible, so they joined forces with Sun Dianying and led the remnants of the Zhilu coalition army and part of the White Russian army to land in Yantai and seize Penglai, and Zhang Zongchang made himself the commander-in-chief of the Second Front of the Allied Army.
In the face of the comeback of Chu Yupu and Zhang Zongchang, 3 of Liu Zhennian's 5 divisions surrendered to Chu Yupu. Zhang Zongchang also wanted to recruit Liu Zhennian as an old leader, but Liu Zhennian did not agree.
After fighting several battles in Fushan County, Liu Zhennian lost more and won fewer victories, so he left Yantai and retreated to Muping City. Chu Yupu and Zhang Zongchang's troops surrounded Muping City, stormed the county seat, and dug tunnels to continuously bomb, but they did not expect that Liu Zhennian's defense was very tight, and Chu Yupu and Zhang Zongchang's army did not even capture Muping City.
During the battle, Liu Zhennian found a gap, he thought that Zhang Zongchang and Chu Yupu's army was not terrible, so he made a surprise attack on Zhang and Chu's army, defeated Chu Yupu and Zhang Zongchang, Zhang Zongchang fled to Dalian by boat, Chu Yupu retreated to Fushan County, Liu Zhennian quickly killed and besieged the county seat.
Surrounded by Liu Zhennian, Chu Yupu ran out of food, so he sent someone to Liu Zhennian to ask for surrender. Liu Zhennian let Chu Yupu and more than 20 officers out of the city, he quickly put Chu Yupu and others under house arrest, and then asked for two million yuan to exchange Chu Yupu, and finally talked about 500,000, Chu Yupu's wife took money, but only to see Chu Yupu, Liu Zhennian did not release people.
Died at the hands of the men
It is reasonable to say that Liu Zhennian and Chu Yupu are old friends, and they were once superior-subordinate relations, why does Liu Zhennian hate Chu Yupu?
At that time, Liu Zhennian was the brigade commander under Chu Yupu, and because Liu Zhennian was a warlord with new ideas, he wanted to vigorously reform this bandit armed force, formulated the regulations of "no gambling, no prostitution, no love of money, and not fear of death", and even punished violators, causing some people to be dissatisfied, Liu Zhennian was a brigade commander for two months before being secretly calculated.
Chu Yupu also did not ask about the situation, beat Liu Zhennian a hundred to kill Wei Wan, and drove him away, so Liu Zhennian hated Chu Yupu. Now that Chu Yupu had fallen into the hands of Liu Zhennian again, there was very little chance of wanting to live.
On September 10, 1929, when Chu Yupu was still calculating his own life and death, Liu Zhennian sent someone to invite Chu Yupu to dinner, but in the middle of the night he was buried alive by Liu Zhennian's subordinate Zhao Zhen.
Chu Yupu killed countless people in his life, and many innocent people were killed by him, but Chu Yupu did not end well, and finally died at the hands of his subordinates. Therefore, Chu Yupu should have said that he should not be a person, otherwise he would not have a good end.
