Lhasa, 17 Dec (Xinhua) -- The Tibet Autonomous Region official introduced in Lhasa on 16 December that there are currently 16 kinds of Tibetan periodicals and 12 kinds of Tibetan newspapers publicly distributed in Tibet, and the cumulative number of Tibetan books published has reached 7185 kinds of 40.09 million copies. In the past five years, Tibet has published more than 2,500 kinds of books in Tibetan.

On the same day, the cloud visit activity of "Happy New Tibet, New Picture of Development" was held. Deji Zhuoga, deputy director of the Propaganda Department of the Tibet Autonomous Regional Party Committee and director of the Information Office of the Tibet Autonomous Region Government, briefed the Russian guests on the publication of Tibetan-language books in the past five years.

She said: For example, in recent years, Tibet has collected, sorted out, and published a large number of outstanding Tibetan-language books involving historical documents, ethnic culture, Tibetan Buddhist classics, biographies of characters, literature and art, and so on, which have played an important role in protecting and developing the outstanding traditional culture of the Tibetan nationality. Tibet has also compiled and published four series of complete wall charts of medical codes, rare books of Chinese Tibetan medicine photocopying, Chinese medical encyclopedia Tibetan medicine sub-volumes, Tibetan almanacs and other books, providing rich resources for the study of Tibetan medicine and astronomical almanac.

She said: The Tibet Autonomous Region has actively sought the support of the China National Publishing Fund and the special funds for the publication of national characters to make The publication of Tibetan books bigger and stronger. As of December 2021, a total of 6 155 Tibetan-language books have received 15.3435 million yuan (RMB, the same below) from the State Publishing Fund, and 619 Tibetan-language books for 45 projects have received 49.6529 million yuan from the national special fund for the publication of ethnic characters, and a large number of Tibetan classic books have been published, which not only effectively serve the public, but also protect excellent traditional culture, and greatly promote the healthy and orderly development of Tibetan book publishing.
