"Born like a summer flower" is a poem by Tagore, from the 82nd poem of the Birds. Mr. Zheng Zhenduo translates it as: born like the splendor of summer flowers, dead like the quiet beauty of autumn leaves. Later, the words "born like a summer flower" were widely quoted in the poetry of many people.
However, this "truncated" quotation only makes people understand that life should be as dazzling as the summer flowers, trying to bloom, and ignoring the beauty in life, life will inevitably have imperfections and unsatisfactory endings. It is not to say that even in the face of sadness and even death, we must look at it calmly and accept all the endings like autumn leaves. Not to mention telling people that the most beautiful ones have been fought for and experienced, and there are no regrets.
Chen Lian
In this sentence, we think of Chen Lian, and in our consciousness, she has clearly achieved the splendor of a summer flower. Someone described her like this: big eyes, deep dimples, beautiful, dignified, is a real big girl. We look at her pictures before she was born, it is indeed like this, like a flower blooming in summer, gorgeous, dazzling, very beautiful. In addition to Hua Rongyue' appearance, she is also a talented woman, a particularly stubborn and self-motivated person.
Chen Lian is the daughter of Chen Bray. Chen Lian's mother was named Yang Hongnong, and soon after giving birth to Chen Lian in 1919, she died of puerperal fever. Chen Bray was Chiang Kai-shek's most trusted compatriot and closest attendant director, national policy adviser, and think tank, who worked at Chiang Kai-shek's side for more than 20 years, and was known as Chiang Kai-shek's "literary bladder" and Chiang Kai-shek's confidant. But it is said that because Of the death of Chen Lian's wife, Chen Bray was very excited, even "superstitious", believing that Chen Lian was "mother- and threw Chen Lian out of the window. Fortunately, Chen Lian had a big life and was caught by the ceiling outside the window. Chen Lian's grandmother said to Chen Bray that this child will be blessed if he does not die, and you don't want me to take Care of Chen Lian with me.
After a period of time, Chen Bray woke up and realized that he was wrong, so he named Chen Lian "Pi'er" and loved Chen Lian very much, but he did not expect that Chen Lian chose to be in the opposite direction of him on the political road, and secretly joined the Communist Party of China after being admitted to the Southwest United Congress in 1939, becoming the most legendary of his 8 children.
Chen Lian's early experience was this: she was very radical, she was admitted to the Hangzhou Higher School despite the objections of her father Chen Bray, and gradually came into contact with the Chinese Communist Party due to dissatisfaction with the policies of the Chinese Kuomintang. In 1939, he was admitted to the National Southwest United University, and in 1942, he went to Chongqing Central University. In 1946, Chen Lian graduated and went to Beiping Beiman Middle School as a teacher. In the middle of this process, she and her father Chen Brei had such a story: in early 1942, she went to the party organization and eagerly demanded permission to go to Yan'an. However, the party organization considered her identity and persuaded her to stay by Chen Brei's side, use the opportunity to influence Chen Bray, and let Chen Bray do something useful for the people for the War of Resistance. In this way, she returned home after not having contact with her father Chen Bray for a long time.
Chen Bray
Chen Brei was overjoyed to see his daughter Chen Lian, but he did not know that his daughter Chen Lian had joined the Communist Party. One day, he saw his daughter Chen Lian holding a copy of "On Protracted War" reading, and he was shocked. Looking at his surprised look, his daughter Chen Lian said to him: "China has reached the brink of subjugation, and resisting Japan and saving the country is an urgent patriotic event and the duty of every young man!" He had always opposed his children's politics, but his daughter Chen Lian's words made him unable to refute them, and he could only tolerate them silently. It is said that society is a big river and lake, and we can see that Chen Bray is in the "jianghu" but cannot manage the helplessness of his daughter Chen Lian.
Chen Lian's husband, Yuan Yongxi, was not yet married when he experienced the story with his father, Chen Bray. Yuan Yongxi was a Guizhou scholar from a prominent family, whose grandfather was a Prominent Eunuch of the Qing Dynasty and was related to Xu Shichang. In addition, Yuan Yongxi was also the brother-in-law of Ye Gongchao, vice minister of foreign affairs of the Kuomintang government. In 1939, at the age of 20, Chen Lian was admitted to the National Southwest Union University. At that time, the revolutionary youth movement of the National Southwest United University was very active, and chen Lian's superior in secret activities was Yuan Yongxi.
In 1940, Yuan Yongxi became the secretary of the underground party branch of the Southwest United Congress, and later the general secretary. At the age of 23, he suffered from lung disease, Chen Lian took the initiative to take care of him, and the two quickly knew and fell in love. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War in 1945, Yuan Yongxi returned to Beiping and served as the head of the underground party of the "Pingjin Southern Bureau" and the secretary of the Beiping Academy Committee. At this time, Chen Lian had graduated from college and also came to Beijing to work as a history teacher at Beiman Girls' High School. Soon, at the age of 26, she proposed to her father, Chen Bray, that she marry Yuan Yongxi.

After receiving the news, Chen Bray used a lot of connections to conduct a "secret detailed investigation" of his future son-in-law, Yuan Yongxi, and the result was not only that Yuan Yongxi was not only the brother-in-law of Ye Gongchao, vice minister of foreign affairs, but also a good friend of Wu Han and Zhu Ziqing, which made Chen Brei gladly accept Yuan Yongxi, who was a talented and scholarly man with good character and a quick son-in-law who could be the right person in the dragon. On August 10, 1947, Yuan Yongxi and Chen Lian were married in Beiping, but what Chen Bray did not expect was that just over a month later, that is, on September 24, 1947, Yuan Yongxi and Chen Lian were both locked up in prison.
Yuan Yongxi and Chen Lian were arrested because of the betrayal and betrayal of the weak-willed, and in prison, they were tortured to the end, and the Kuomintang agents tried everything they could to bring them to their knees. The agent beat them to death with a leather whip, stabbed them in the fingers with bamboo sticks, poured chilli water into their noses... Let them pass out many times. Even, the agent forced Chen Lian to go to the torture room to watch Yuan Yongxi's execution. But they all withstood these tests and never revealed their party membership.
Because the agents had no gap to take advantage of and found nothing, in early December of that year, Yuan Yongxi and Chen Lian were escorted to Nanjing. After repeated deliberations, Chen Bray, who was foolish and loyal and good-looking, finally wrote only this text message to Chiang Kai-shek: "Daughter Chen Lian and son-in-law Yuan Yongxi, because of the 'suspicion of the Communist Party' from Beiping to Nanjing, what should be the crime, let it fall, and did not say a word." In the end, the spies could only give Yuan Yongxi and Chen Lian the name of "suspected communist party", and because Ye Gong exceeded the mask protection, Yuan Yongxi and Chen Lian were released from prison separately.
Chen Lian was released from prison earlier than Yuan Yongxi, at the end of January 1948, and Yuan Yongxi was at the end of May of that year. After Chen Lian was released from prison, he returned to his hometown in Cixi, Zhejiang, and after Yuan Yongxi was released from prison, Chen Bray took him to his mansion and invited some people to wash the dust for him. This was the first time Chen Bray and Yuan Yongxi met, and the situation at that time was somewhat awkward, but weng and son-in-law got along very well. After that, Yuan Yongxi and Chen Lian followed the arrangements of the underground party organization and lurked around Chen Bray and continued to engage in secret underground activities. It is said that these experiences were later filmed in the TV series "Latent".
Yuan Yongxi
November 13, 1948, was the day Chen Brei committed suicide. On the night before the suicide, Chen Brei would call Yuan Yongxi to meet him at his apartment and say to Yuan Yongxi: "Politics is not a good thing, you and Pi'er must not get involved in it." I have been engaged in politics for most of my life, and the mistake in my life is to engage in politics without understanding politics, so that I cannot extricate myself, and it is too late to regret it now! In the previous half a month, he suddenly proposed that Yuan Yongxi and Chen Lian accompany him to visit the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum.
Today, this story has been magnified in many sources, but what has been amplified is nothing more than the cause of Chen Bray's death, and this cause of death seems to us to be nothing more than a sentence - sometimes, once a person sees through some things, he feels that there is no point in living, and he is desperate. Chen Bray may be like this. This also allows us to take what he said to Yuan Yongxi as his last words, as his daughter Chen Lian's final entrustment to Yuan Yongxi.
At that time, after the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Chen Bray, aware of the political darkness of the Kuomintang, the corruption of officials, the economic decay and the loss of popularity, had realized that he could not change anything by relying on his own bookish pen alone, and then drank medicine in extreme disappointment and committed suicide, and finally bid farewell to the world in the form of "self-abandonment". But at the end of his life, he should know that many things in life will not change because some people's summative last words are passed on to future generations, and his son-in-law Yuan Yongxi and daughter Chen Lian did not have sunny days in the future.
After taking care of Chen Bray's affairs, in January 1949, Yuan Yongxi and Chen Lian were secretly escorted by the underground party transportation department of the Communist Party of China, fled Shanghai under the rule of the Kuomintang, and after more than a month of arduous trekking, they traveled through Zhenjiang to northern Jiangsu, crossed the Huaihai battlefield where the smoke and smoke were exhausted, went straight to Shijiazhuang, and finally returned to the team. Soon, they joined the revolutionary ranks of the liberation of Peiping. After the founding of New China, Chen Lian served as a member of the Central Committee of the Youth League, Yuan Yongxi served as the secretary of the Party Committee of Tsinghua University, and had a daughter (Chen Bihong) and two males (Chen Bida and Chen Xiaodai), but in 1957, Yuan Yongxi was shocked and delegated to labor, and Chen Lian was forced to divorce him under pressure.
Chen Lian Yuan Yongxi and his wife
After this, Chen Lian's life can basically be explained by three fragments: First, after divorcing Yuan Yongxi, she felt sad to stay in Beijing alone, and the time was not long, so she decided to leave Beijing for Shanghai. Before leaving, she bid farewell to Yuan Yongxi's niece, Sun Shiqian, hugged Sun Shiqian and cried: "The reason why I made up my mind to leave Beijing is because everywhere I go in Beijing, I will think of something and be sad." Now that the children are getting older, how can I tell them about your uncle? After that, she traveled to Beijing on business, always to find Sun Shiqian, let Sun Shiqian go to her room to live for one night, in order to inquire and understand Yuan Yongxi's recent situation. Each time she choked up while listening, Sun Shi inquired about falling asleep, and she cried alone until dawn.
The second clip shows Chen Lian, 48, dressed in neat clothes, jumping from the 11th floor of the East China Bureau dormitory on Taixing Road in Shanghai on the morning of November 19, 1967. The reason: she was also shocked at the time. Subsequently, a suicide note was found on her desk: "Comrades, my confession in 1949 about my arrest is completely true!" You will always understand this in the future, but I myself will not be able to wait for that day. It should be noted that after divorcing Yuan Yongxi, she did not marry for life and lived alone with three children.
The third clip is that on March 21, 1979, the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee held a conference for Chen Lian's rehabilitation, and she was subsequently praised as "a family rebel and a hero among women". People gave the most sincere tribute to this revolutionary woman with a difficult fate and a stubborn personality. But in the face of the moment when she jumped from the 11th floor, who can say that she accepted all the endings as quietly as autumn leaves? In fact, life is often like this, many people can be born like a summer flower, but can not do death like autumn leaves. It's like walking through the wind and rain, but you may not be able to come to happiness. Let's take a look at the appearance of this life like a summer flower, which is perhaps the best comfort that the living give to the deceased, and this has little to do with the flowers and leaves themselves.
