Chen Bray firmly opposed his children's entry into politics, did his seven sons and two daughters abide by it? What happened next
As we all know, Chen Bray had the reputation of "the first pen of the Kuomintang," and most of the important announcements of the Kuomintang at that time were single-handedly undertaken by him. However, he is a literati after all, with his own pride and perseverance, after entering politics, the gap between reality and ideals makes him feel tormented, but "regret is too late" (Chen Brei).
In order to learn the lesson of his "mistakes into thousands of years of hatred" and avoid repeating his mistakes, he resolutely opposed his children from taking the road of politics.

"Don't ask you to fly yellow"
Chen Brei had a total of seven sons and two daughters.
His ex-wife Yang Hongnong had three sons and two daughters, the eldest son Chen Chi, the second son Chen Guo, the third son Chen Shi, the eldest daughter Chen Xuan, and the second daughter Chen Lian.
Wang Yunmo gave birth to four more children, namely the fourth son Chen Mai, the fifth son Chen Jin (who died early), the sixth son Chen Sui, and the younger son Chen Yuan.
By the end of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the eldest son Chen Chi had arrived at the age of establishment, and the youngest son, Chen Yuan, was already a young man.
Chen Brei is known for filial piety and family heirloom, and on the one hand, he treats his children strictly, hoping that their children can learn a little real skills in a down-to-earth manner, maintain a clean family style, and not be flashy, eat, drink, and have fun; on the other hand, they are strictly forbidden to take the road of politics, and strive to rely on technical expertise to stand on their own in society.
Chen Brei often admonished his children: "People are noble and self-reliant, but if you want to be with you, you can do something beneficial for the people." I don't want you to soar, and I don't want you to be officials, but I only want you to be ordinary and upright, loyal to the country, and self-reliant in society... Don't compete for fame, don't seek profit... Integrity... Can be willing to be ordinary..."
Children have their own success
In order to prohibit his children from entering politics, Chen Bray personally chose the direction of their academic specialization for them.
In the summer of 1932, the eldest son, Chen Chi, graduated from high school and had two aspirations: one was to study agriculture and study how to turn weeds into fertilizer; the other was to enter the Central Political School and take the road of political salvation. Chen Chi asked his father's advice. Chen Bray said flatly: "Even if you are eager to save the country, don't take the same path as me, it's too dirty!" ”
Chen Chi obeyed his father's wishes and entered the College of Agriculture of Zhejiang University, and eventually became an expert in agricultural products.
Under the influence of his father's ban and his eldest brother, the second son, Chen Guo, entered Zhejiang Medical College to study medicine and became an expert in internal medicine;
The third son, Chen Shixue, graduated from the Department of Engineering of Tongji University and has long served as a professor at wuhan institute of surveying and mapping;
The fourth son, Chen Mai, studied civil engineering, graduated from Jiaotong University, and later worked as an engineer of Shanghai Railway Bureau;
The sixth son, Chen Sui, graduated from the Department of Science and Engineering of Tsinghua University, and the youngest son, Chen Yuan, later went to Beiping to study liberal arts.
When the children recall their father, they are also deeply touched by his father's deep and broad love, and sigh that he told us not to ask about politics, perhaps he himself was too tired of the corruption of the Kuomintang.
The only regret - Chen Lian
For Chen Bray, although the children's palms and the backs of their hands are meat, caring for them is naturally a bowl of water, but for the younger daughter Chen Lian, he gives more fatherly love.
After Chen Lian was born, her mother died, and Chen Bray attributed the pain of widowhood to her daughter, threw her out of the window in her infancy, fortunately caught by the ceiling outside the window, and was later raised by her grandmother. Because of this guilt, Chen Bray was particularly fond of his daughter, but Chen Lian later took a diametrically opposite path.
In July 1939, Chen Lian secretly joined our party and broke with his family after the Anhui Incident. However, her father loved her like a mountain, and in 1947, Chen Lian was arrested by the Kuomintang, and Chen Bray managed to release her from prison on bail. After 1949, Chen Lian was appointed party secretary of the Beijing Forestry College, but did not arrive, and after 1962 served in the Propaganda Department of the East China Bureau. In 1967, she died in endless despair.
Serve the country from the military
In addition, it is worth mentioning that although Chen Bray opposed his children's entry into politics, he actively encouraged them to sign up for the army and participate in the War of Resistance.
In 1944, the Japanese army launched the Battle of Yuxianggui, the iron hooves directly approached Guizhou, Guiyang was in a hurry, Chongqing shook, and Jiang used the slogan of "100,000 young people and 100,000 soldiers, one inch of mountains and rivers and one inch of blood" as a slogan, recruited college and secondary school students to enlist, thus launching a youth campaign in the rear area.
As a result, chen bray's family had a touching scene of several people competing for the army: first the third son, Chen Shi, took the initiative to sign up for the artillery; then the fourth son, Chen Mai, actively signed up for the sappers.
Because the father had a reprimand not to enter politics, the two children were not sure whether they should let their father know about this matter.
Chen Shi hesitated for a long time, deeply afraid of his father's obstruction, and finally did not report it. Chen Mai was still hesitating, not wanting to be informed by Chen Brei. Who knew that his father not only did not stop him, but on the contrary greatly praised, and later Chen Brei knew that Chen Shi had also signed up for the army, and said with both joy and disgust:
Why didn't you say it earlier? Although the Father has repeatedly warned you not to get involved in politics and to learn technology, it is your duty to love the country and the great cause, and you young people are obedient to the pen, and it is natural to hear!
In this upsurge in the military, the most touching person is the youngest son, Chen Yuan.
Chen Yuanshi studied in the middle school of Nankai Middle School, born in 1928, not yet the age of joining the army, because he was influenced by his family, he actually concealed his parents to apply for a name. During the physical examination, he worried that he was underweight and even carried a few stones in his pocket. The "ruse" did not succeed in the end, which disappointed Chen Yuan, who was full of enthusiasm for joining the army. After Chen Brei learned of this, he also gave encouragement and advised him to register again in two years.
In the environment at that time, many children of high-ranking Kuomintang cadres did everything possible to evade military service, and Chen Brei's children's performance was more like a clear stream, which was worthy of praise.
