Brothers! Mercedes-Benz is coming up with a concept car again.
The concept car, named "Vision EQXX", will be one of the key models on mercedes-Benz's 2030 all-electric road, and the unveiling will further demonstrate Mercedes-Benz's leadership and capabilities in electric vehicle technology.
In November, Markus Schaefer, director of research and development at Mercedes-Benz, confirmed the existence of the concept car on his LinkedIn, which is expected to debut on January 3, 2022, and then be unveiled at the CES show in Las Vegas on January 5 next year.
Schaefer also revealed some new details of the concept car, such as the car's future mass production can achieve a full electric power of more than 1,000 kilometers (621 miles) of pure electric endurance, which is 100 miles more than the 520-mile pure battery life of the Lucid Air Dream Edition, which is currently called "pure electric endurance king". One thing is for sure, the Lucid Air is a midsize sedan, while the production version evolved from the "Vision EQXX" concept will be a compact sedan. As we can see from the teaser, the new car will be a sleek, curvy body style similar to the shape of a two-door coupe.
In order for the concept to be mass-produced, Mercedes-Benz used almost all of its divisions, even the F1 team, to help the car provide maximum kinetic efficiency. According to Marcus Schaefer, the new car consumes only single digits of kilowatt-hours at a speed of 100 kilometers per hour.
At present, the model with the lowest wind resistance coefficient in Mercedes-Benz products is the newly launched Mercedes-Benz EQS, which has a drag coefficient of only 0.20Cd. It is expected that after the mass production of the "Vision EQXX" concept car, the drag coefficient will be lower with the smooth body line. In addition, the new car will be equipped with a uniquely designed battery pack, which will have an energy density of 20% higher than the EQS.
According to Marcus Schaeffer, the car is expected to be equipped with a high-efficiency motor, which was developed by British electric vehicle expert YASA. Earlier this year, Mercedes acquired the company, best known for its research on axial magnetic field motors, whose biggest advantage is that they have higher power and are lighter than they are today. In addition, the Mercedes-Benz F1 team has also provided support in the adjustment of the drivability and kinetic energy recovery of new cars.
