According to media reports, Tesla received a subscription contract from New York City, which is reported to order hundreds of Model 3s from Tesla for a total amount of more than $10 million.

The draft procurement contract shows that the NYPD pays $51,940 per car as part of the city's push for a transition to an all-electric fleet. While New York City has yet to commit to buying the cars, the contract, which will be discussed at a hearing Thursday morning, is expected to be worth around $12.4 million.
The total number of Model 3s mentioned in the contract to be purchased was not disclosed, but based on the price of the car, $12.36 million could purchase approximately 220-300 Model 3s without a discount.
It's unclear what the city's purchase will do, but the mayor has announced a $75 million investment in electric vehicles, including the purchase of 300 electric vehicles, the construction of 275 fast charging piles, and the conversion of 125 diesel trucks into electric vehicles.
