Bing Yuanyuan, deputy director of the Department of Medical Affairs of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, said that since mid-October, there have been local clusters of new crown pneumonia in many parts of the country. After the outbreak of the epidemic, all localities adhered to the principle of "attaching equal importance to traditional Chinese and Western medicine, integrating traditional Chinese and Western medicine, and using both Traditional Chinese and Western medicine", and organized the prevention and control of traditional Chinese medicine for the first time. In accordance with the overall deployment of the joint prevention and control mechanism of the State Council and local needs, the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine has sent staff and TCM experts to the place where the epidemic occurred to support the prevention and treatment of TCM and promote the early intervention, full use and comprehensive coverage of TCM.

First, in terms of working mechanisms. During the Hubei Defense War and the Wuhan Defense War last year, that is, the emergency containment stage of the sudden epidemic, we innovated and formed a "mechanism, team, measures and effective" integrated Chinese and Western medicine medical model in practice. In the "dynamic zeroing" stage of normalized prevention and control exploration and precise prevention and control of the whole chain, the integrated chinese and Western medicine medical model and the cooperation mechanism of traditional Chinese and western medicine have been continuously promoted and improved.
Under the unified leadership of the local emergency command center, the competent departments of traditional Chinese medicine in various localities have coordinated the local traditional Chinese medicine forces to form an experience model of "starting the emergency prevention and control command and treatment work mechanism in which traditional Chinese medicine participates at the first time, applying the prevention and control and treatment plan of traditional Chinese medicine at the first time, having a team of traditional Chinese medicine experts at the first time, and using traditional Chinese medicine at the first time".
At the same time, in the designated hospitals to deepen the integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine medical model, traditional Chinese and Western medicine experts jointly formed an expert group, jointly formulated and improved the diagnosis and treatment plan, jointly carried out treatment in the front line, and jointly conducted rounds consultation and case discussion.
Second, in terms of treatment. Traditional Chinese medicine is deeply involved in the whole process of treatment, and all localities carry out traditional Chinese medicine treatment in a standardized and homogeneous manner in accordance with the national diagnosis and treatment plan. For mild and ordinary patients, traditional Chinese medicine treatment is the mainstay, improving the clinical symptoms such as fever, cough, dysregulation, fatigue and so on, and reducing the development of severe diseases. For severe and critically ill patients, the combination of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine is adopted, "one person, one policy", giving full play to the efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine in reducing high fever, promoting lung exudation and absorption, improving gastrointestinal symptoms, etc., slowing down or blocking the development of severe disease to critical illness, and promoting the transformation of severe disease to mild disease.
For some recovered patients who still have symptoms such as fatigue, poor absorption and qi deficiency after discharge from the hospital, comprehensive interventions such as traditional Chinese medicine and non-drug therapy are used to promote functional recovery and improve quality of life. At present, among the locally confirmed cases and asymptomatic infected people, except for a few special cases, traditional Chinese medicine is widely used.
Thirdly, in terms of prevention. Incorporate traditional Chinese medicine into the "four early", give full play to the role of traditional Chinese medicine in treating pre-existing diseases, and guide all localities to formulate prevention plans for traditional Chinese medicine in combination with the local climate and the physical characteristics of the population. For close contacts and sub-close contacts in centralized isolation, with the goal of "prescribing medicine to the point", the prevention and intervention of traditional Chinese medicine is carried out at the first time to ensure that traditional Chinese medicine "should be taken as much as possible" and "can be taken to the fullest". Extend the prevention of traditional Chinese medicine to the sealing and control of communities and front-line key post populations, and ensure that those who are in need of home isolation and front-line workers are "willing to serve".
All localities have organized the establishment of a roving guidance expert group for traditional Chinese medicine, regularly going to centralized isolation medical observation points and sealing and control communities to guide the prevention of traditional Chinese medicine, and carry out follow-up visits to take medicines.
