An expression, a story; a face sculpture, a spring and autumn. Recently, the "Face Sculpture Culture, Fingertip Intangible Cultural Heritage - China Wuhan Face Sculpture Works Exhibition" was exhibited in the Wuhan Craft Building, with more than 150 vivid and very realistic Wuhan face sculpture works, fully demonstrating the unique charm of traditional skills.

Wuhan face sculpture works

Face sculpture is a kind of traditional color kneading art with flour as the main raw material, which is a kind of handmade but highly artistic traditional craft, which has been recorded in the Han Dynasty more than 2,000 years ago, and is known as the "living fossil" of folk traditional art. Wuhan as the central city of the nine provinces, the south to the north of the face sculpture artists here to integrate and learn from each other, compatible with the strengths of the north and south, the formation of a unique Wuhan face plastic craft, its theme is widely taken, vivid and rich in shape, exaggerated and delicate expression, meticulous and exquisite craftsmanship, calm and coordinated with color, the works are flexible and thick, showing the long-standing Jingchu cultural characteristics.

This exhibition contains four parts of glittering, prosperous Chapter, ingenuity and uniqueness, non-genetic inheritance, exhibiting nearly 150 pieces of fine pasture products, including Liu Jie, a master of arts and crafts in Hubei Province, Gao Zhihe, a master of folk craft skills in Hubei Province, Zhang Luwen, secretary general of the Wuhan Civic Writers Association, Pan Feng'e, a hubei provincial technical expert, Fang Chengjie, a technical expert in Hubei Province, Xu Yang, winner of the gold medal of the World Sugar Turning Competition for two consecutive years, and Zhang Xiufan, a folk face sculpture craftsman, with heroic and burly generals, and delicate and delicate beauties. There are famous works of history, as well as myths and folklore, bringing together ancient and modern China and foreign countries.

It is understood that many works in this exhibition directly reflect the Jingchu culture, such as "Guan Gong", "Zhaojun Out of the Plug", "Dayu Zhishui", "Mulan", "Hubei Top Ten Famous Dishes", "Western Chu Bawang", "Qintai Meets Zhiyin", "Put Eagle Platform", "Jiqing Street", "Fried Noodle Nest" and so on.

In the context of Wuhan's creation of the "East Asian Cultural Capital", this exhibition also highlights the fruitful results of Wuhan's foreign cultural exchanges. Many of the works in this exhibition have been exhibited in the United States, France, Italy, Germany, Russia, Japan, South Korea, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Poland, Hungary, Sri Lanka, Nepal and other parts of the world, and have won many awards. In addition, Liu Jie introduced that many of his Wuhan face sculpture works, such as "Zhongyi Guan Gong", "Napoleon Bonaparte", "Five Tiger Generals" and so on, have been collected by foreign institutions or friends.

The exhibition is guided by Wuhan Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, Wuhan Urban Collective Cooperative Industrial Center, sponsored by Wuhan Craft Building and Wuhan Yisu Face Sculpture Art Workshop, and co-organized by Wuhan Arts and Crafts Association, Jiang'an District Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center, Wuhan Intangible Cultural Heritage Industry (Group) Co., Ltd., and Wuhan Hanpai Stone Carving Studio.
