It is said that during World War II, the German Fuehrer had a proud guard, and after the defeat, this force did not want to fall into the hands of the Soviet army, and even ran more than 100 kilometers to surrender to the American army.
The reason why the unit desperately surrendered to the Americans was because they found a number of german prisoners of war executed by the Soviets on their way to the east.
They then carried out a three-day massacre of the Soviets in revenge, and more than 4,000 prisoners of war were ruthlessly killed. After the defeat, this unit knew that its evil deeds were deep, and once it fell into the hands of the Soviet army, its fate was only ten deaths.

Although they are war freaks, they are not fools and want to live, so the surrender of the US troops who have rushed for 100 kilometers has gained a glimmer of life. According to incomplete statistics, nearly 950,000 Soviet prisoners of war were executed by the Germans throughout World War II. Before the defeat, there was already a consensus within the German army: we must fight to the death to resist the Soviets, until the Yankees come and we will surrender to them!
First of all, from the perspective of the German soldiers, the United States and Germany do not have much grudge, and the number of battles between the soldiers of the two countries is much smaller than that of the Soviet Union. The Germans also knew that during World War II, they had become sworn enemies with the Soviet Union, and according to the character of the "woolly bear", they would never let themselves go easily.
Second, from the perspective of the old Americans, their self-proclaimed "righteous" Allied forces played the so-called savior image at the beginning of World War II, which seemed extremely just in every way. After all, this big war is concerned by the whole world, and Lao Mei also wants to establish a new image for herself.
Then, from the perspective of the Soviet Union, for them, Germany almost destroyed the country, the losses are uncountable, and it is normal for them to retaliate against the Germans.
What's more, in the early days of the war, they were not cruel to Soviet prisoners of war, and the Germans were afraid that the Soviets would return blood for tit-for-tat, and many clever German soldiers took the initiative to surrender to the American army.
In addition, in the later period, the German army collapsed on the eastern front, and the German prisoners were more and more, far beyond the imagination of the American army, so that many German prisoners of war did not get the ideal treatment of prisoners of war.
In April 1945, more than 300,000 German prisoners of war were held in the Ruhr, which can be said to be close to the total number of prisoners of war held in the United States.
Eisenhower once lamented in his memoirs that Ruhr expected to hold 150,000 prisoners, but in the end he held more than 320,000 prisoners, including 30 generals, this time more than the 270,000 prisoners of war captured by the U.S. army when they conquered Tunisia two years ago.
By the time the U.S. army entered Berlin, more and more German troops surrendered, with a total of more than 5 million, and the Americans began to have headaches. If you want so many prisoners of war, the daily consumption of food is counted as a number of days, even if it is to transport supplies from the United States mainland, it is not easy to feed so many people.
However, for their own interests and based on so-called morality, lao Mei did not dare to kill all prisoners of war, and coupled with the image of the "righteous master" created for themselves by this war, they would never allow the blatant execution of prisoners of war.
Later, as the cruelty of the Nazis during World War II was gradually made public, people all over the world had to severely punish "fascists". As a result, Lao Mei was able to legitimately "settle" these captives.
Eisenhower began to order that the partially surrendered Germans be characterized as "disarmed hostile armed forces", in other words, to give these "prisoners of war" the title of "enemy" and then send them to the Rhine to collect revenue.
In the Rhine Prisoner of War Camp, the U.S. army divided german prisoners of war, including civilian personnel, according to the status of wehrmacht, SS, women, children, etc. Then, they are locked up in "open circles" enclosed in barbed wire.
Since these prisoners of war were no longer "prisoners of war", the Geneva Conventions were no longer suitable for them, and the International "Red Cross" could not regulate them.
After a few days of closing for these prisoners of war in the Rhine camp, Lao Mei did not provide them with food and water, in order to drink and die of thirst and starvation of a group of prisoners of war to alleviate their "pressure".
