The website of the Chinese Embassy in South Africa reported on December 15 that in response to the recent diplomatic boycott of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics in the international community, the South African Sports Federation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) fully supports the position of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in issuing a statement: the Olympic Games and athletes' participation should transcend politics.
As the National Olympic Committee, preparing our athletes for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics remains the focus of our work, the statement said.
Mr Barry Hendrick, Chairman of the South African Sports Federation and Olympic Committee, said: "The core concern of the South African Olympic Committee remains the sending of teams to participate in The Olympic Games, and we are currently working on qualifying tournaments to ensure that our athletes can participate in the Beijing Winter Olympics. ”
