On December 15, a fire broke out at the Causeway Bay World Trade Centre in Hong Kong, and the fire alarm was upgraded to level 3. Relevant videos show that the inside and outside of the World Trade Center building are filled with a lot of smoke, there are people in the building waiting for rescue on the platform, and firefighters raise ladders to send trapped people to a safe position on the ground.

It is understood that on the day of the fire, the low floor of the World Trade Center was under construction, and the outer wall was surrounded by trellises. According to CCTV News at about 3 p.m., many people were trapped on multiple floors of the building, and at least hundreds of people were still waiting for rescue on the roof of the 39th floor. Firefighters used two groups of fire brigades and two teams of smoke caps to rescue people, and raised a ladder to save people.

According to the Hong Kong East Net, more than 100 people were trapped on the platform on the 5th floor, 350 people were trapped on the roof, and firefighters rushed to the scene to rescue.

The reporter saw from the rescue screen at the scene that the vicinity of the World Trade Center has been controlled, and ambulances and fire trucks are parked and waiting. Downstairs, a woman was put on an oxygen mask and taken on a stretcher to carry away. A large number of people in the building were able to walk out on their own under the escort of rescue workers, and many people covered their mouths and noses with towels.

Two evacuees said in an interview at the scene that they heard the alarm after the fire, then covered their nose and mouth with towels and waited for rescue at the platform.

A merchant who withdrew from the building said that after the fire, she wanted to leave through the stairs, but after opening the fire door, she smelled strong smoke, closed the fire door, and waited for rescue at the scene. Soon, firefighters arrived to take her away. As of 4.30 p.m., she had not received notice to return to work in the building.

Affected by the fire, parts of the area near the World Trade Center were once closed. At about 4 p.m., a restaurant staff near the World Trade Center told Jimu News that there was no smoke at the scene at present, and her restaurant was separated from the fire point by a distance, so it could still operate normally, and some people rescued from the building involved were eating in the store.

According to the fire bulletin issued by the Press Release Of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at around 4:00 p.m., the fire alarm occurred at 12.37 p.m. and was upgraded to level 3 at 1.03 p.m. The fire was surrounded at 3:05 p.m., brought under control at 4:25 p.m. and largely extinguished at 4:30 p.m. Thirteen people in the fire were unwell and had been taken to the hospital for treatment.

According to CCTV News at 4:00 p.m., as of now, at least 13 people have been sent to the hospital for treatment, nearly 1270 people have been evacuated, all personnel have been rescued, as of 4:30 p.m., the fire has been extinguished.

At present, the cause of the fire has yet to be officially announced. According to Hong Kong media reports, the initial cause of the fire is suspected to be the first fire in the meter room, and then the fire affects the scaffolding, causing smoke to come out and affecting the citizens in the mall.
