At 12:37 p.m. today, a fire broke out at the Causeway Bay World Trade Centre in downtown Hong Kong, and as the building was undergoing renovation works, a large amount of smoke poured out of the gap in the scaffolding of the façade.

The local fire department immediately came to the scene to rescue after receiving the report, but the fire could not be controlled, and the fire alarm was raised to level three by 1:03 p.m.
According to preliminary estimates at the scene, about 100 people were trapped in the sky garden on the 5th floor of the building, waiting for rescue. Among those who fled on their own, many people were suspected of inhaling thick smoke and needed to be sent to the hospital for treatment. As of 15:08, the number of injured had increased to 5, and they had been taken to Ludunzhi, Mary and Eastern District Hospitals for treatment, two of whom were women in their 70s and 60s.
It is reported that there are many restaurants in the building where the fire occurred, and after the fire, smoke poured into the restaurant, and not long after, the lights in the restaurant suddenly went out, and customers fled.
Some of them also entered the Sky Garden on the 5th floor of the mall and called for help at the trellis position, which needed to be rescued by firefighters on a ladder to the ground.
The area near the site is full of smoke, and people passing by need to cover their noses.
