Once the third richest man in China, he was wanted to flee to the United States for 19 years, and still wants to return to China many times to "build a car"

The business community has been ups and downs several times, there are opportunities and risks, and even industry tycoons have gone a thrilling step. Some people were depressed, but they seized the opportunity to become rich; some people once took charge of the work, and finally fell off the altar and fell into prison.

At the beginning of the 20th century, there was such a person who shook the north and south of the great river, he promoted the company to be listed in the United States at the end of the last century, becoming the first enterprise listed in the United States in China; manufacturing China's first domestic car with independent intellectual property rights; in 2001, he became the third richest man in China with assets of 7 billion yuan, when he had unlimited scenery, he was known as the "Gatsby" of Jiangyin County.

But it fell rapidly at the most prestigious time: swept out of the company, fled to the United States, was wanted by the world, and fell from the peak of the unlimited career to the bottom, which made people sigh.

In the 1950s, Yang Rong was born in Jiangyin, Jiangsu Province. What Yang Rong was doing before 1989, he himself did not mention too much, and no one could conclusively conclude, and there have always been many opinions. Until 1989, Yang Rong left his hometown to go to Shanghai to speculate in stocks, and encountered Jinbei Automobile, which was facing financial difficulties and was issuing shares. At that time, Yang Rong had no interest in building cars, and he focused on working capital.

He first registered the leather bag company "Brilliance Auto" in Bermuda, and then bought 46 million shares of Jinbei Automobile equity, partnered with others to establish "Jinbei Bus", and then transferred the shares of Jinbei Bus in his hand to Brilliance Automobile. Finally, through a series of operations such as stock exchange, Brilliance Auto was successfully listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 1992, becoming the first company listed in the United States in China.

Yang Rong's original purpose was not to seriously build a car, the original intention was to cash out and leave after Brilliance was listed. However, after brilliance auto was listed, due to poor operation, its performance declined all the way, and the stock price also overlapped a lot. Yang Rong had to temporarily put aside the idea of working capital and rectify the company to build cars wholeheartedly.

In 1995, Jinbei Bus launched a cooperation with Toyota "Haishi SY6480", which was popular as soon as it was listed, with annual sales of 100,000 units. Brilliance Auto has also become famous. Subsequently, Yangrong increased its research and development efforts and launched China's first car with independent intellectual property rights, "Brilliance China".

Follow-up Yangrong also single-handedly promoted cooperation with BMW, jointly launched "BMW Brilliance", Yangrong is also known as "car maniac". Brilliance Group has thus become the largest state-owned enterprise in Liaoning.

While increasing investment in the automobile market, Yangrong's layout in the capital market has not slowed down, and Brilliance China was listed in Hong Kong in 2000. In 2001, Yang Rong had 7 billion assets in China's rich list released by Forbes, ranking third in the rich list and becoming the richest man in China's top 3.

The turning point in Yang Rong's life occurred in 2001. In 2001, Rover Motors, which was in financial crisis, looked for engine buyers around the world and finally looked at brilliance cars with great strength. In the second half of the year, Rover and Brilliance reached an agreement to establish a joint venture company, if the cooperation can be finally implemented, Brilliance's strength in car manufacturing will be improved again, but unfortunately, YangRong made a "mistake" when advancing.

When choosing the address of the cooperation project, Yangrong did not choose Shenyang, where Brilliance is located, but chose Ningbo for the sake of geographical location and market advantages. At that time, Shenyang was building an automobile industry and creating a "Detroit in China", and the Rover project could greatly promote the development process of Shenyang's automobile industry.

In the early days, when Brilliance first started, the Shenyang government was very supportive of Brilliance Automobile, and gave great help in terms of funds and policies. Now Brilliance talked about such a big cooperation project, but put the project in other cities, which made the Shenyang government very incomprehensible. A battle broke out between Yangrong and Shenyang, and Liaoning Province used the foundation to regain control of Brilliance Auto.

Until June 2002, Yang Rong was removed from the position of chairman of the board of directors and other positions, and yang Rong's ongoing Rover project was stopped. Yang Rong left for the United States and appealed in courts in Beijing, Bermuda, and the United States, suing the Foundation, Brilliance Auto, and the Liaoning Provincial Government, all of which were finally rejected. The Liaoning Provincial Procuratorate also ordered yangrong's arrest on suspicion of economic crimes and issued a global arrest warrant.

At this point, the story of Yang Rong and Brilliance officially came to an end. Over the years, Brilliance Auto has changed its chairman several times, experienced several ups and downs, and now because it relies too much on the BMW system, it has lost its independent research and development capabilities, and is currently bankrupt and restructuring and selling assets. What is Yang Rong, who has been staying in the United States, doing?

After going to the United States, Yang Rong did not give up building cars. In 2009, Yangrong and the company Zhengdao Group reappeared in the public eye, announcing the launch of the "831111" plan, which is expected to produce 3 million electric vehicles in 8 years, with an output value of 1 trillion yuan. The ideal is very grand, the reality is very bone, and Yang Rong's car-making plan has not been completed.

At the 2018 Beijing Auto Show, Zhengdao Automobile launched three models: Zhengdao H500, Zhengdao K350, and Zhengdao HK GT, and claimed that Zhengdao Automobile would use graphene batteries with much higher performance than lithium batteries. However, the so-called graphene battery only adds very little graphene to the lithium battery, and does not improve the performance too much, and the graphene battery is just a hype concept. Electric vehicles have not yet been mass-produced, and the financial situation of Zhengdao Group is not optimistic. From the financial reports of previous years, it can be seen that from 2009 to 2020, the annual loss of Zhengdao Group has reached hundreds of millions of dollars, and the loss in 2019 is as high as 644 million yuan. Even so, he still insisted on the "dream of building a car", and even Jia Yueting had to bow to the wind when he saw it.

On April 1 this year, Zhengdao Group, which has been listed in Hong Kong for many years, officially suspended trading and has not resumed trading until now. If the future is a mass-produced car, will you consider buying it?
