In the past two years, suspense-themed film and television dramas have been very popular, and naturally some film and television dramas have been created to add suspense content. "Female Psychologist" starring Yang Zi and Jing Bairan combines the two elements of psychological counseling and suspense, while "Sleeping Garden" starring Gong Jun and Qiao Xin integrates the two elements of suspense and love idol drama.
1. Suspense or idol drama?
Judging from the plot of "Sleeping Garden" that has been broadcast, this TV series is still essentially a love idol drama, but it has added suspense elements to it, so it is somewhat different from other love idol dramas in temperament.
However, compared with the suspense component in "He Came Please Close Your Eyes" starring Ma Sichun and Huo Jianhua, "Sleeping Garden" is more of a suspense gimmick, and the easy and funny joy and love daily is the focus of the whole drama. This also makes this drama give people a sense of divided vision, two completely different styles of elements in the play repeatedly jumping, one moment is suspenseful horror and the other is light and funny, there is no effective balance between the two, a bit of a sense of indifference.
For example, the opening of the first episode gives people the illusion that this is a suspense drama. Someone conspired to frame the male protagonist, and the female protagonist was also in danger.
Just when the audience continued to look down with full of doubts and curiosity, the painting style turned, the male protagonist was in the university class, the students deserted below to chase the variety show, so the male protagonist connected the scene to dismantle the female protagonist, and the two thus intersected and became a pair of wrongdoers.
Later, the female protagonist found that her friend was missing, and found that the male protagonist was a psychologist for her friend on her friend's computer email. So the female protagonist went to the psychological counseling room of the male protagonist under the pretext of admiring the male protagonist to interview and become the assistant of the male protagonist, and the two began to find friends while getting along with each other day and night.
And when the picture cuts back to the picture of the heroine's friend, the girlfriend who hides in the corner and shivers with a terrifying face inexplicably gives people a suspense drama that is very serious. Of course, if you ignore the suspense component in the play and simply see it as a love idol drama, this drama is not a big problem.
2. The narrative is fast-paced and the story is thin
Each episode of "Sleeping Garden" has a duration of more than 60 minutes, and judging from the narrative rhythm, the pace of the show begins to be very fast. The male and female protagonists have made rapid progress from encountering each other, and in the first episode of the plot, the female protagonist has already understood the preferences of the male protagonist, opened the male protagonist's safe, squeezed the subway with the male protagonist and sneaked into the male protagonist's home.
On the surface, the plot does not seem to have any bugs, but when you look deeply, you feel that the story is still slightly thin, and in essence, there is still no love story setting that deviates from the cliché. For example, in order to investigate the disappearance of a friend, the female protagonist deliberately approached the male protagonist's motives and behaviors slightly deliberately.
The female protagonist wants to know why the friend goes to psychological counseling and what the relationship between the male protagonist is, and she can contact the police or directly ask the male protagonist, instead of taking great pains to pretend to interview and lie about liking the male protagonist. Such a move seems superfluous and unnecessary, and there is a suspicion of forcing the two people to get along with the same frame, which is actually impossible to justify itself logically.
At present, the personality of the male and female protagonists in the drama has not been clearly shown, and the psychologist played by Gong Jun is relatively vague in addition to paying attention to environmental protection and taking the subway and other public transportation.
The hostess played by Qiao Xin is more lively, but the psychological activities given to her by the screenwriter in the play are too frequent, and the narration from time to time makes people a little dramatic. All her thoughts are revealed through the narration, a little too lazy.
For example, when the female protagonist looked at the girlfriend's computer, she found that the email sent by the girlfriend and the male protagonist sent a series of questions. The screenwriter uses this way to show the heroine's reasoning process is actually not smart. In addition, when the heroine went to the interview, she was embarrassed and began various psychological narrations, afraid that the audience would not know the panic in her heart, which was even more redundant and unnecessary. Because these emotions can be completely completed through expressions, a large number of narration inner drama will only make people feel that the heroine's inner drama is a bit much.
The female protagonist remembered the design of the male protagonist's U disk in his bag, which could actually be explained in the exchange between the two on the way to school, but the screenwriter omitted this part and used the narration again to promote the plot, only to fear that there would be more such a situation in the follow-up plot.
Of course, in general, the slot points and bugs of "Sleeping Garden" are not so obvious, and the overall plot is relatively good. At least in many shoddy idol dramas at present, its watchability is still relatively strong. As for whether this drama can become a hit, it depends on how the follow-up plot writers exert their strength, after all, the plot is king!
