03 How to prevent it
When the hearing aid is not used, the hearing aid battery compartment door should be opened and placed in the ordinary drying tank. When the weather is cold or wet, 3 to 6 hours of electronic care treasure drying every day, other times a week drying 1 to 2 times, each time 3 to 6 hours can be, do not need to dry all the time (drying need to remove the battery), after all, hearing aids are electronic products, too frequent drying, easy to lead to hearing aid aging. When washing your hair, bathing or swimming, take off your hearing aid before operating. If there is moisture in the ear canal and water, the external ear canal should be dried with a cotton swab before wearing.
There is another reason for the intermittent and silent sound in winter - hearing aid batteries. You read that right, it's the hearing aid battery! The hearing aid batteries currently in use are zinc-air batteries, and of all environmental factors, temperature is the biggest influence. When the temperature drops, the electrode reaction rate of the battery also decreases, and the current decreases, and the machine will have a light, silent, and intermittent situation. In addition, low temperatures will also cause the utilization rate of battery capacity to be reduced.
As shown in the figure below, in the 0 °C environment, the utilization rate of battery capacity is reduced by half, that is, the hearing aid that can be used for 10 days can now only be used for 5 days. High temperature has little impact on the capacity utilization rate of hearing aid batteries.
Another factor that affects the battery is humidity. If the relative humidity is too low, the electrolyte in the battery will slowly dry out; if the relative humidity is too high, the system inside the battery will store moisture. If the hearing aid battery is stored improperly, it will cause changes in the internal environment of the battery, which will affect the normal use of the hearing aid.
In order to avoid the above situation, we recommend using hearing aid batteries in winter: after tearing off the battery protective film, let it stand for 2-5 minutes, so that the internal electrolyte of the hearing aid is in full contact with the air, and then installed in the hearing aid. Reasonable preservation of hearing aid batteries, temperature and humidity is an important factor in the preservation of hearing aid batteries. Do not buy large quantities of batteries at once.
