After two princes who wanted to usurp the throne of their brothers fled and became friends, did they succeed?

Since King Ping of Zhou moved east to Luoyi, the ritual law of the Zhou Dynasty has become more and more broken. In the seventeenth year of King Ping (754 BC), Duke Shuzi Duan of Zhengwu was born; a year later, Duke Weizhuang's Shuzi Zhouwu was also born, and these two princes are the protagonists of today.

Shuzi is favored

Uncle Duan's father was Zheng Wugong, and his mother was Wu Jiang, who had difficulty giving birth when he was born, so he hated the eldest son and loved the younger son. How much does Wu Jiang pamper Shu Duan? According to historical records, when Duke Wu was alive, Wu Jiang repeatedly asked for The Appointment of Uncle Duan as crown prince, and then again when Duke Wu was seriously ill and went, but Duke Wu finally chose the eldest son, Duke Wusheng; when Duke Wusheng (Zheng Zhuanggong) succeeded to the throne, Wu Jiang again requested a fief for Uncle Duan, first requesting a dangerous city, and Duke Zhuang asked his mother to choose another place, and Wu Jiang named Jingyi (present-day southeast of Xingyang, Henan).

According to the etiquette law, the largest fiefdom can not exceed one-third of the capital, but the capital is far greater than the capital; when a minister advises, Zheng Zhuanggong can only helplessly answer: "Mother's life is difficult to violate."

On the other hand, Duke Shuzi of Weizhuang was born of his concubine, and Duke Weizhuang was very fond of him, and Duke Zhou of Weizhuang loved swordsmen, and Duke Weizhuang also indulged in it. The chancellor Shi Jijin said: "The beloved son must teach the great righteousness and prevent him from falling into the evil way", but Wei Zhuanggong did not pay attention to it.

Wei Zi fled

In the 36th year of King Ping of Zhou (735 BC), Duke Zhuang of Wei died, and was succeeded by his eldest son Ji Quan, known in history as Duke Huan of Wei. Zhou Hu used to like swords and soldiers, and after Duke Huan of Wei succeeded to the throne, he was still arrogant and extravagant, and Duke Huan dismissed Zhou Hu from his official position, and Zhou Hu was dissatisfied, so he secretly fled to another country.

Shu Duan usurped the throne

Duan, who had been enfeoffed with the title of Zheng Guojing, became more and more swollen, and he first ordered the cities west and north of zheng to obey him, and seeing that Zheng Zhuang did not punish him, he took two more cities for himself, and the feudal estates expanded all the way to Yanyan (廪延, in modern Yanjin County, Henan).

Zheng Boke Duan Yu Yan

In the 49th year of King Ping of Zhou (722 BC), Shu Duan, who had been training armor soldiers, felt that the time had come and sent troops to attack Zheng Zhuanggong, and his mother Wu Jiang also planned to join forces with him to help him usurp the throne. However, Zheng Zhuang was a man of great talent, and he was powerful in appointing xianchen to develop the economy, coupled with the fact that his uncle Duan usurped the throne and was unpopular, most of the soldiers had collapsed before the battle, and Zheng Zhuang easily defeated him.

Shu Duan also fled to Gongguo (present-day Hui County, Henan) after his defeat.

The state called for usurpation

The two princes who both wanted to kill their brothers and usurp the throne smelled the same, and they became friends as soon as they saw each other.

In the first year of the reign of King Huan of Zhou (719 BC), Zhou Wu killed his brother Duke Huan of Wei with his fleeing men. Not only that, he also wanted to help his friend Duan seize the throne. He asked the States of Song, Chen, and Cai to join him in supporting Shu Duan, and all three of the princely states agreed to Zhou's request.

However, the state was not in the right position, and he had just taken the throne and was poor in military force, and the defenders were dissatisfied with him. The chancellor Shi Wei then used the power of Chen Guo, the mother of Duke Huan of Wei (Zhou Wu's brother), to first pretend to be friendly with Zhou Hu, and when Zhou Hu sent troops to the outskirts of zheng Guodu, Shi Wei and Chen Hou joined forces to kill Zhou Wu and ask Wei Huan Gong and Zhou Wu's younger brother to inherit the throne, known in history as "Wei XuanGong"; and Shu Duan also disappeared in the long river of history.

The fate of the two princes who do not abide by the law of etiquette and want to kill their brother and usurp the throne is regrettable, do you think this is the fault of their parents' doting or their own fault? Feel free to leave a message in the comments section
