From next year, new cars will be forced to assemble "black boxes", and the field of auto parts will welcome the 100 billion-level outlet

After a traffic accident, it is not uncommon for the parties involved to shirk responsibility from each other, and the division of responsibility is more difficult because the accident record is likely to be incomplete and incomplete.

Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued a notice saying that according to the "Technical Conditions for the Safety of Motor Vehicle Operation" (Amendment Order No. 2), from January 2022, all newly produced passenger cars must be equipped with a traffic event recorder EDR system.

From next year, new cars will be forced to assemble "black boxes", and the field of auto parts will welcome the 100 billion-level outlet

The so-called EDR, similar to the "black box" on the car, can be used to record the key data of the car's operation in the three stages before, during and after the collision, such as vehicle speed, collision acceleration, assisted driving system, steering wheel status and so on. Through these data, the whole picture of the accident can be restored more comprehensively, which is convenient for analyzing the accident and dividing the responsibility.

The forced loading of the "black box" will also bring a new outlet to the auto parts market. At present, the unit price of domestic EDR is generally above 5,000 yuan, if calculated according to the annual production of 20 million new cars, then the market space of EDR is expected to exceed 100 billion.

However, this may also bring about the problem of increasing the cost of buying a car for consumers. At present, the domestic standard EDR cars are mainly high-end brands such as "BBA", and some insiders believe that the rise in the cost of auto parts brought about by the installation of EDR is likely to eventually shift to consumers, of which the impact of low-end models will be more obvious.
