Introduction to the University of Amsterdam
The University of Amsterdam (http://www.uva.nl) is a comprehensive research university located in the heart of Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands. The school's predecessor, Atheneum lllustre, was built in 1632 and officially renamed the University of Amsterdam in 1877. The university currently has seven faculties: Humanities, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Economics, Law, Science, Medicine and Dentistry. With an international focus on internationalization and offering more than a number of English-taught master's programs, the university is one of the most internationally specialized and international universities in Europe.
The University of Amsterdam is ranked 55th in the QS World University Comprehensive 2022; 65th in the Times World University Rankings 2022; and 38th in the USNEWS World University Rankings 2022.
