On March 16, 1961, in Shanghai, the founding general Chen Geng died at the age of 58. General Chen Geng spent his whole life, fighting everywhere, making many achievements in battle, and dedicating his life to the country and the people. His death was mourned by the whole country. For his wife and children, it was a big blow.
After the death of General Chen Geng, as a great woman, his lover, Lady Fu Ya, took on a heavy responsibility. Alone, he raised five children and raised them one by one to become the pillars of the country. He also summed up general Chen Geng's combat experience during his lifetime and compiled it into a book.
But in 1992, 31 years after the death of General Chen Geng, Ms. Fu Ya, 74 years old, insisted on going to Taiwan despite the persuasion of everyone. What exactly is it?

1. Fu Ya, wife of General Chen Geng
Fu Ya was born in April 1918 in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi. From a young age, his family was well-off and loved by his parents. However, under the growth of such an environment, Fu Ya did not become a spoiled and habitual big lady, but became a progressive young man who dared to fight against the evil forces. After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan, Ms. Fu Ya, a progressive youth, often took to the streets with her classmates to demonstrate and collect materials for the anti-Japanese fighters on the front line.
In April 1938, fu Ya, under the introduction of his eldest brother Fu Sen, rushed to Yan'an with his younger brother Fu Xi and sister Yu Li with the ideal and mission of resisting Japan and saving the country.
In order not to involve his family, he devoted himself to the revolutionary cause. Changed his original name "Fu Huiying" to "Fu Ya". But after that, there was less and less contact with the family.
Second, the love story of Chen Geng and Fu Ya
After Fu Ya arrived in Yan'an, he was arranged to study at the 4th phase of the Anti-Japanese Military and Political University. Because of his beautiful appearance, good at singing and dancing, and articulate, after graduation, he was assigned to work in the General Political And Labor Troupe of the Kang Da.
One day in 1940, the Kang Da General Political And Labor Troupe performed in Panlong Town, Wuxiang, Shanxi, and due to the lack of props, Fu Ya and two other colleagues of the Kang Da General School went to the home of Wang Zhitao, the leader of the group, to get the props. It was a coincidence that he met Chen Geng who was recuperating there.
At that time, General Chen Geng accidentally injured his legs because he was accidentally attacked by enemy guns on the battlefield, and temporarily stayed at the home of Wang Zhitao, the head of the training department of the Cultural and Labor Corps.

When Minister of Health Qian Xinzhong once went to visit Chen Geng, he asked him meticulously on behalf of the organization: "Is there anything you lack now?" ”
"I don't lack anything now. It's the lack of a wife. Chen Geng said half-jokingly.
So under Wang Zhitao's deliberate arrangement, Chen Geng and Fu Ya met in this way. Chen Geng fell in love with Fu Ya at first sight, and the relationship between the two became closer and closer. With the deepening of the exchanges, Fu Ya was slowly attracted by the positive optimism, outstanding talent, humor and talking of General Chen Geng.
General Chen Geng was also very frank with Fu Ya, and when he first met, he did not hide that he had a marriage.
It turned out that in 1923, General Chen Geng, who was still a teacher at a night school, married his student Wang Genying.
Later, when the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression broke out, because of the work arrangement, Chen Geng and Wang Genying were sent to different places. On March 8, 1939, Wang Genying's unit was attacked by the Japanese army. Wang Genying unfortunately died on the battlefield at the age of 33.
When Wang Genying was sacrificed, Chen Geng was leading his troops to fight, and when he learned that his wife had died, his heart was like a knife. In order to make himself remember this day forever, he wrote this passage in his diary:
"March 8, 1939, was a day I must not forget, and it was also my most painful day."
At the same time, Chen Geng is also determined to keep the festival for his wife for 3 years.
After Fu Ya knew what had happened, instead of getting angry, Fu Ya was very moved. A man who is willing to do this to his former wife must be a man who is emotionally heavy and worthy of trust. Fu Ya then offered to wait three years with Chen Geng to keep this promise. Three years later, on February 25, 1943, the two married in Yan'an.

After getting married, in order to resist the invasion of foreign enemies, the two gathered less and left more. But the two did not become strange because of the limitations of time and distance, but their feelings became better and better. Coupled with the humor of General Chen Geng, life is colorful and interesting.
Fu Ya is an era woman with an independent personality. Because her husband was fighting everywhere on the battlefield and did not have much time to accompany his children, the burden of educating his children fell on Fu Ya. Fu Ya raised Chen Geng's 4 children alone, and also regarded Wang Genying's children as his own. A great deal of time was spent educating the five children.
At the same time, she was very principled and hoped that Chen Geng would not interfere with her work. Chen Geng also had great respect for his wife Fu Ya, and immediately said: "I respect your decision and will never interfere in your work." To this end, Chen Geng also made three promises to Fu Ya:
First, I will not hinder your work and will respect your cause;
Second, I will not let you be my secretary and keep you around;
Third, I will always love you and truly love you.
These three promises, whether during the war or after the founding of New China, Chen Geng always adhered to them.
Third, Fu Ya fulfilled Chen Geng's last wish
After the founding of New China, Chen Geng, who originally thought that he had lived half a life on horseback, would finally be idle, and the two of them would live a good life in the world of husband and wife, and enjoy the happy life of their children around their knees. However, after the founding of the People's Republic of China, General Chen Geng was still busy with official duties, not only serving as vice minister of national defense, but also busy preparing for the construction of the Harbin Military Engineering College. In particular, after the triumphant return of Chen Geng, deputy commander of the Volunteer Army to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, his physical condition became worse and worse. After years of hard work, no one's body can stand it. General Chen Geng's body finally could not stand up and fell.
On March 16, 1961, Chen Geng died of illness in Shanghai at the age of 58 due to illness. He became the first founding general to die.
The death of her husband is no more sad than that of Fu Ya, who is his wife. For a long time, she washed her face with tears all day long, and the face of her husband appeared in her mind from time to time. But he still has 5 children to raise, and Fu Ya must come out of his grief. Fu Ya perked up his spirits and decided to help her husband fulfill his unfulfilled wishes. She not only compiled Chen Geng's many years of combat experience into a book, but also supported Wang Genying's mother and sent her living expenses every month until the old man died.

4. Fu Ya and his family are reunited
Since marrying Chen Geng, Fu Ya has lost contact with his family. It was not until 1949, when the army went south to Guangzhou, and through the relationship of the Southern Bureau, Fu Ya learned that his whole family had gone to Taiwan.
At that time, however, cross-strait relations were very tense, and Fu Ya could not immediately rush to the other side of the strait. You can only look at each other across the sea and pin your thoughts on yourself. Every night when he dreamed, Fu Ya would dream of the scene of laughing and playing with his family when he was a child, and tears would flow from his eyes. This has been going on for a long time. It wasn't until one day in 1980 that a letter from the United States finally relieved Fu Ya's longing.
This letter was actually sent from the United States by her little sister Yu Li. The little sister in the letter also said that she also missed Fu Ya very much, missed her hometown, missed her relatives, and wanted to return to the motherland to have a look.
Seeing his sister's letter, Fu Ya burst into tears of excitement. Immediately replied to the little sister, she also hoped that the sister could come back earlier and reunite the family. After years of preparation, Fu Ya's sister took a plane from the United States to Shanghai and finally came to Beijing.
In 1984, after a lapse of thirty years, the sisters met for the first time in Beijing. When the little sister was not yet an adult when she left, when she returned to her hometown, the little sister was already full of hair, and the two sisters looked at each other's old faces, and the two faces left traces of the years. Without saying a word, they hugged each other tightly and cried bitterly.
After the mood eased, her sister told Fu Ya that her parents were no longer alive. Now my brother and sister still live in Taipei. Before the parents died, they had a last wish:
"The tree is tall and the leaves have fallen to their roots, and you should not put my ashes in the temple in the future." Sprinkle it into the sea, drift back to the mainland with the waves, float back to my hometown. ”
The last wish of the parents, the children must want to fulfill it. Therefore, the two of them must bring the ashes of their parents back to the mainland and the embrace of the motherland.
Fu Ya came to Taiwan
However, at that time, cross-strait relations were somewhat tense and the timing was insufficient. The two waited for two years, and finally in 1986 cross-strait relations eased. The two obeyed their parents' wishes, brought their parents' ashes back to the mainland, and buried them in the beautiful and quiet Xizi Lake in Hangzhou, which is also a wish of the old man.
But in Fu Ya's heart, the regrets were still not resolved, and she still wanted to go to Taiwan to see her brothers and sisters who grew up together.
If you don't forget it, there will be an echo. In 1992, after the opening of the two sides of the strait, the 74-year-old Fu Ya, who officially left for retirement, could no longer hold back the thoughts of his family in his heart: I was going to Taiwan to see my family.
After a series of preparations, the day finally came. Fu Ya and his sister Yu Li flew from Hong Kong to Taiwan.
As soon as he got off the plane, Fu Ya was greeted by a dozen cars parked in a row. It turned out that the sisters and brothers in Taiwan had already flourished, and every household was a large mouth of people, and they all came to the airport to welcome Fu Ya's arrival. In this way, the people along the way took Fu Ya to the second brother's home.
Although it has been more than 30 years gone, the blood between brothers and sisters is thicker than water, and the relationship between them has not become strange. A large group of relatives sat and looked at the whole house, and you greeted Fu Ya one by one, concerned about how she had lived for many years. After many years, the separated relatives are finally reunited again.
Because of his personal experience, Fu Ya hopes that the country can be reunified at an early date, that the sons and daughters of China on both sides of the taiwan strait can be reunited with their families, that they will no longer bear the pain of separation and the pain of lovesickness, and that they will be able to gather together and share happiness with a large family.
On January 4, 2010, Fu Ya passed away in Beijing, completing her 92-year legendary life. It is worth mentioning that Fu Ya did not remarry in this life.
