Witness the "last journey of your life"

——Four funeral homes use practical exercises to "tell" the final story of the deceased

Feng Ye, an all-media reporter of Xiangtan Daily

Life, old age, illness and death are the norm in life. After a person dies, how to complete the "last journey"? In the past, people were very taboo about funeral homes called "the end of life", but on December 10, we witnessed a warm and decent farewell at the Xiangtan City Funeral Home.

On that day, the municipal funeral home was much more popular than usual, but the people who came did not participate in a real memorial service, but 4 funeral institutions from Changsha, Loudi and Xiangtan cities (Changsha Mingyangshan Funeral Home, Loudi City Funeral Home, Hunan Xiangshuiyuan Changsheng Cemetery Co., Ltd., Xiangtan City Funeral Home) to conduct business practice exchanges together. In order to respect life, this business exchange serves a virtual deceased person and restores the whole process of service of various funeral institutions.

The "deceased" surnamed Lu, a 52-year-old woman, died at 23:03 on December 9, died of "head injury caused by a traffic accident", and the place of death was in the hospital she served before her death. Dr. Lu is the deputy director of the psychiatric department of the hospital, who has treated countless patients and treated injuries, and is deeply respected and loved by the patients' families, peers and students, and has been rated as an advanced medical worker at the municipal level many times before his death.

After his death, the body was transported to the Xiangtan City Funeral Home. In order for the deceased to say goodbye to the world intact and dignified manner, the Staff of the Human Remains Service department needed to suture the "figure 7" wound on her head.

Liu Quantao, who came to work at the Xiangtan Funeral Home in May 2011, has been working in the Body Service Department for 10 years, transporting, cremation, suturing, makeup... He did all this work. In suturing alone, he stitched nearly 100 bodies this year, and what was simulated at the hands-on site was to stitch up Dr. Lu's "figure 7" wound in 15 minutes, which was the simplest job for him.

"Everyone leaves in a different way, some people leave peacefully, some people are unfortunately killed in accidents, and some choose to jump off the building, sleep on the track, etc., even so, there should be the right to leave with dignity." Liu Quantao said that the suture experience that impressed him the most was to suture a person who died in a serious car accident, when many organs of the body were exposed and the body was damaged in many places, and it took Liu Quantao and two colleagues a total of 3 hours to complete the suture.

And these are just ordinary parts of his daily work. With the development of the times, the suture technology is also constantly improving, the stitching is done well, and no thread can be seen on the surface, so that the deceased can leave the most beautiful appearance, and the family of the deceased has been well comforted.

After the body is stitched, it is a display of service negotiation and memorial planning.

The service negotiation is that Dr. Lu's husband, daughter and representative of the unit go to the funeral hall business hall to negotiate funeral matters with the staff. In the process, they mentioned that Dr. Lu's mother was very sad and kept saying, "In a few days, the whole family will have a reunion dinner." In a few days, Dr. Lu's husband, who has been working in the field for many years, and his daughter, who is studying for graduate school in Guangdong, will return.

Therefore, during the memorial planning, the on-site experts proposed that the picture of the family eating the reunion dinner be reproduced by technical means to make up for the regrets of the old mother, and the on-site memorial hall was arranged with Dr. Lu's favorite pink and white as the main tone, playing her favorite song of Teresa Teng. Undoubtedly, this is a "private customization" farewell ceremony.

The funeral business practice exchange meeting was hosted by Xiangtan Funeral Home, and The Xiangtan Civil Affairs Bureau, Hunan Funeral Association, Changsha Civil Affairs Vocational and Technical College and other units were present to guide and comment, aiming to further implement the requirements of "I do practical things for the masses", improve the quality of funeral services in the study, and explore the final meaning of life in the exchange.
