Nameless Girl: If the deceased is not like this, it is because of the self that cannot escape

It was the first seriously watched Dané brothers (Dané Brothers: Belgian film director group, older brother Jean Pierre Dané, younger brother Luc Dane).

From the perspective of the average audience, narrative-style films are difficult to recommend from the storyline, performance details, or what is called a stunning moment. This type of movie must be watched intently in order to get the soul shock it deserves at the end.

The shock of the soul brought about by "The Nameless Woman" is the position and attitude of the bottom line of conscience.

A black girl she had never met had died unexpectedly, and she had called the doorbell of the clinic under Jenny's supervisor for help. "If the door had been opened, the girl might have been spared death," said Jenny, a young female doctor, who wanted to redeem herself by figuring out the girl's identity. Only because she believes that death will not end the bondage between man and man, and when the deceased is not like this, he is waiting for the living to untie his heart knot.

The main theme of the Dane brothers' cinematic ideas originated from the French philosopher Emmanuel Levinas's "Inescapable, this is me".

In Levinas's famous "theory of the other", it is believed that justice and peace in the true sense can be achieved only by moving from the self to the other and assuming ethical responsibility for the other. The "other" is not another "me", it is what the "I" is not, and if you recognize the "other", you will see the "self" clearly.

In The Nameless Girl, the protagonist Jenny is the "other" of the person she meets. Young and promising, beloved, a brilliant doctor, who heals the flesh of the patient by virtue of her own skillful medical skills; in the process of finding the identity of the girl, she is using her conscience to dissolve the mental diseases of the "other".

For solving the mystery of "who is the girl", Jenny is stubborn and serious, and does not let go of any clues. The old doctor of the clinic, the construction worker at the place of the crime, the patients encountered when he went to the clinic... Ask anyone who might have seen the girl. At a visit, a sick boy who deduced from a pulse change had seen a dead girl and asked directly about the opportunity to be alone with her.

Because the girl entered the country illegally, it not only made the police feel tricky, but also brought a lot of trouble to Jenny. Fired by patients, fooled by insiders, even threatened by the underworld... The indifference and violence that were originally hidden in the shadows of society were provoked by the healer Jenny.

The son who helps his father to recruit prostitutes, the son who helps his father to cover up the truth, the sister who ignores his own sister because he is jealous, the person involved who would rather commit suicide than tell the truth... Everyone seems to have good reasons to justify their mistakes, but in front of Jenny, every reason seems weak and unethical.

All the remarks of precious life, in the eyes of those associated with the nameless girl, are insignificant because "she is all dead". When the last person who met the nameless girl, because she could not bear the huge psychological pressure, repented in front of Jenny in order to get the liberation of the soul, Jenny said that she broke the truth that bound their soul shackles.

"If she died, it wouldn't still be in our minds."

Because of this sentence, the film leads to a ending that is enough to be relieved. The person associated with the girl untied the shackles that weighed on his own soul; the girl's tombstone was engraved with his own name.

Finally, something other than the movie.

When writing this film review, I saw the news that Jiang Ge's mother won the lawsuit, and I thought that for Liu Nuanxi (Liu Xin) and her family, Jiang Qiulian and Jiang Ge's mother and daughter should be "others", reflecting their missing and inescapable "self".

Jiang Ge, who unfortunately passed away, her bravery and righteous help reflected Liu Nunxi's (Liu Xin's) lack of cowardice and inability to escape; after the tragedy, Jiang's mother faced the strength of the loss of her beloved daughter, and the sense of responsibility of running for the lawsuit for her daughter's rest, reflecting the selfishness and vulnerability of Liu Nuanxi (Liu Xin) and his family who were missing and unable to escape.

If Liu Nuanxi (Liu Xin) had chosen to call the police at the beginning, or to truthfully inform the dangerous nature of the situation, would it have been possible to avoid the tragedy of Jiang Ge? If Liu Nuanxi (Liu Xin) and his family did not make mistakes again and again when they faced Jiang Ge's mother, did not repeatedly hurt Jiang Ge's mother at the verbal and spiritual level, but sincerely apologized, thanked, and actively helped in the Japanese lawsuit, fulfilling their due responsibilities and obligations, would Jiang Qiulian, who had lost her beloved daughter, still have 1894 days that the whole society would pay attention to?

As a bystander to the news, I hope that all the "ifs" will come true, but real life is different from movies, and there is no script that can be adapted.

If the ending of "The Nameless Girl" is a mystery to be solved, and everyone continues to live with their own secrets, it will still be a good story.

But for Liu Nuanxi (Liu Xin) and his family, losing the lawsuit is only one thing they have experienced, it will not end up in the end, and there will be their entire life to face, and even involve the existing interpersonal network. I hope that they will not waste the days to come, do some necessary psychological counseling according to their personal psychological conditions, and face the rest of their lives in the right way.

I wish Jiang Ge's mother health and longevity, peace for the rest of her life, and get what she wants.
