On the evening of December 13, Starbucks issued a public statement on food safety issues, saying that it had confirmed that the partners (employees) of the two Wuxi stores reported by the media did have operational violations, and in addition to rectifying the closure of the stores involved, it would also start self-inspection of all Starbucks stores in the Chinese mainlandChinese mainland.

The cause of the incident stemmed from the fact that the Beijing News reporter recently conducted an undercover investigation at two Starbucks stores in Wuxi City and found that in actual operation, the store clerk did not implement the Starbucks food safety "gold standard".

What is more serious is that in the above two Wuxi Starbucks stores, this kind of violation of the rules has become the norm, and the store supervisor and store staff will even "teach" various illegal means to new employees.

Starbucks reacted quickly and quickly shortly after the incident fermented. On December 13, Starbucks China told Interface News that it had closed the above two stores at the first time and immediately launched an in-depth investigation.

According to the "Wuxi Market Supervision" WeChat public account on the evening of December 13, in response to the media exposure of two Starbucks stores in Wuxi City to "replace the ingredient label and use expired ingredients", the market supervision department immediately organized a special work class to comprehensively carry out verification and disposal work on the same day.

The market supervision departments at the municipal and district levels conducted key inspections of the Starbucks Zhenze Road store and Changxing Building store involved, and preliminarily verified that the relevant enterprises had changed the internal control period of food raw materials and used raw materials beyond the internal control period, and ordered the 2 stores involved to close down for rectification.

The market supervision department simultaneously carried out inspections of 82 other Starbucks stores in the city, and found that 15 problems such as employees not wearing work hats, random placement of items in the processing area, and incomplete disinfection records have been ordered to rectify.

The Market Supervision Bureau conducted an administrative interview with Starbucks (China) Northeast China, requiring the company to conduct a comprehensive self-examination of the existing food safety problems and implement rectification. In the next stage, the Municipal Market Supervision Bureau will continue to organize forces at the municipal and district levels to conduct in-depth investigations of the 2 Starbucks stores involved and seriously investigate and deal with them according to law. From now on, we will deploy special food safety rectification actions focusing on cracking down on false labeling of production dates and shelf life in the city, and make every effort to ensure the safety of citizens.

In the above-mentioned apology statement, Starbucks said it would carry out a series of rectifications, including the closure of the two stores involved for investigation and rectification; Chinese mainland all Starbucks stores immediately launch a comprehensive self-inspection of the implementation of food safety standards; Organize retraining of retail employees in all stores; increase the frequency and scope of regular inspections and surprise inspections from third parties.
