During the Kangxi Dynasty, Li Wei worked in the household department and was responsible for collecting money and grain. At that time, there was a prince in charge of the household department, and demanded that for every 1,000 taels of money and grain collected, an additional 100 taels of flat surplus would be collected. The so-called "flat surplus" means that all localities will send the share of the additional tax to the household department in the collection of taxes. Li Wei felt that it was extremely difficult to collect the payment, and the additional ten or twelve would definitely cause opposition from everyone. Li Wei couldn't do anything, and simply got a large cabinet with the words "A certain king wins the surplus." This embarrassed the prince so much that he had to stop overcharging.
Just because of this incident, the entire imperial court knew about Li Wei, and Yin Chan, who was the Prince of Yong, also heard about this matter. After Yongzheng succeeded to the throne, he specially summoned him. In the TV series, Li Wei served as a feudal official like the inspector. However, the real history is that Li Wei has long been in charge of or concurrently managed the salt administration work of one side. As early as the first year of Yongzheng's reign, Li Wei was appointed as the Yanyi Road in Yunnan, and a year later he was promoted to envoy, still in charge of salt affairs. Two years later, he was promoted to inspector of Zhejiang and was ordered to concurrently hold the important position of envoy of the two Zhejiang salts.

In the third year of Qianlong, Li Wei died, and the Qianlong Emperor ordered that he be given a sacrifice and burial according to the governor's routine. The Qianlong Emperor commented: "Li Weicai was able to do things in a down-to-earth manner, declared his strength to seal the territory, did not hesitate to take care of it, and assisted the land with great importance... I mourn the passing away today. However, after all, Li Wei's relationship with Qianlong was not so ironclad, and an incident that happened later showed the true thoughts of Qianlong's heart.
The Qianlong Emperor once made a tour of the south and saw the idols of Li Wei and his wives and concubines in the West Lake Flower Temple. In this regard, he was furious and instructed: "Li Wei looked up to the Emperor Kao En's family, was willful and arrogant, and was initially unjust and pure subjects. The name of the temple is very strange! This shows that Qianlong's evaluation of Li Wei is still very low, believing that he is willful and arrogant.
